The Fire Within

Lizzy sighed as she cuddled up to him, leaving her paperwork, resting her head against his chest softly, "This'll be fun" She sighed softly, taking slow sips of her tea as she stayed in his lap.

Dominic watched her worriedly, of course he knew what was causing her small bursts of nausea yet every time she left his lap to the bathroom, which was closer to his office than hers, he waiting anxiously for her return. Rubbing her back and asking her if she was okay each time.

Lizzy protested at first, before she gave in, sitting comfortably in his lap while she worked, signing off on anything she needed to, reading through each individual paper, murmuring softly to herself, she had already raced to the bathroom to throw up two or three times to throw up, sipping at another tea, an unknown number of how many she had drank already, she ran her fingers through her hair as another wave of nausea came over her, sighing as she knew there was nothing besides tea to throw up at this point.

After a few hours, the firehouse was abandoned, there was a group of people sleeping in the dedicated rooms and others doing paper work in their offices. He’s cleared out his own office to lend to Lizzy, sitting back in his hair, he held her on his lap while she worked.

"Okay" She said softly, continuing to stroke his hair and she leaned down to kiss his forehead again, humming softly as she relaxed back in her chair.

Knox grinned, closing his eyes as she spoke, “I’ll make sure neither of us work” he told her, stretching.

She rolled her eyes and laughed as he spoke, "Well, I doubt it's that big right now, probably about the size of a pea, maybe a little smaller" She said.

Dominic chuckled, “bean? And I hoped it wouldn’t look like me” he winked.

"Well if you two are switching, then he'll get paid for the night you get off that he works" She huffed, continuing to pet his head softly, "I called to see when we could go in for a scan to see how far along I am and how the baby is doing, two weeks and we go see the bean for the first time" She cooed softly to him, leaning to him and she kissed his forehead softly.

Dominic chuckled, “he tried to get back on the roster by indicating he wouldn’t be paid for the night”

"Nope" She cooed and chuckled softly to him, petting his head softly, "How did John take it? He was probably pissed he couldn't get me alone" She cooed, running her fingers through his hair softly as she watched him.

Dominic returned, sitting on the floor between her legs and leaning his head back into her lap. “Miss me?” He smirked.

"You're a pain" She called after him, smiling softly as she made herself comfortable, sipping at her tea softly and she gave a soft breath, at least she would have someone trying to occupy her that night.

Dominic chuckled, “I’m glad I have your approval” he winked, he stood up, “I’ll be back” he promised, kissing her head as he wondered off to call John to let him know he would be taking the night shift.

"Fine, you can stay" She huffed softly, smiling toward him.

Dominic smirked, “you’ve got yourself a deal” he winked.

She rolled her eyes and leaned back softly, "Well if you keep interrupting me all night you'll have to help me finish the paperwork in the morning" She threatened playfully.

Dom grinned deviously, “because the idea of intrupting your paperwork with a command to bend over your desk is appealing.”

She rolled her eyes as he spoke, sighing softly, "Okay okay" She said, "You annoy me all the time, how is annoying me while I do paperwork much more appealing?" She laughed softly.

Dom chuckled, “what’s the point in being Firechief if I can’t pull a few strings...plus, the idea of annoying you while you do paperwork is oddly appealing.”

"Dom, when was the last time you had a day off? You need it" She said softly, leaning to him and she cupped his cheek softly, "I'm not that helpless" She said, "I'll be okay" She said softly, stroking his cheek softly.

Dominic glared gently, “I’ll swap with him”he shrugged easily.

She checked her phone to see the schedule for the night, groaning, "John" She smacked a hand to her face, he had been trying since she and Dom had broken up to get her to date him, constantly flirting with her, he often snuck little grabs at her as well, "He's so creepy" She pouted, "You're off tonight" She said, showing him the schedule, "I was hoping to get some paperwork done tonight, but now I get to avoid John" She grumbled, she hadn't even checked to see the rest of the team that was on with them.

Dominic frowned, “who are you on with?”

(Maybe there’s a guy in the station who flirts with her )

She rolled her eyes at his tone and she chuckled, letting out a soft breath, "I have the night shift tonight, that'll be fun" She rolled her eyes, she hated when she was on the night watch.
