We’re On An Adventure (Stormwind)

Newton growled to himself in annoyance, but sought out shelter anyways. He found something f promising beneath a huge boulder, pointing it out with his tail and narrowing his eyes against the wind as he struggled towards the overhang.

“It’s practically right on top of us and we won’t get far in this wind, anyway!” Lady snapped back.

“It hasn’t started snowing yet!” Newton Replied in protest, raising his voice to a yowl. “We can keep going!”

Lady glanced up worriedly. “We need to find shelter!” She called to Newton, raising her voice to be heard over the howling wind.

Newton followed quickly behind Lady. When he glanced above them when the sun suddenly seemed to dim, the dark storm clouds were now directly on top of them, the wind whipping furiously in seemingly every direction.

When they reached the end of the steep slope, Lady sighed with relief and quickened her pace.

Newton followed close behind, mostly trying to step in the same places that Lady had, since it could be assumed those were safe.

Lady started to make her way down the hill again, more carefully this time.

Newton nodded, sitting carefully so that Lady could get a bit of a head start. He didn’t want to run into her from behind and make her lose her footing, after all.

“I will,” Lady said, briefly pressing against him before pulling away. “We need to keep moving.”

Newton nuzzled her cheek, his heart still racing after thinking for an instant that he might have lost his best friend. “Be more careful,” whined the tom softly. “You scared me.”

“I’m fine,” the tabby said shakily, trembling slightly.

“Lady!” Gasped The tom, throwing caution to the wind to run down to his friend and make sure she was safe.

Lady skidded a little down the mountainside and had to dig her claws in to stop herself, eyes wide with fright.

Newton followed, a little more slowly than Lady, being way more careful in picking out where he’d place his paws next on account of the wind trying to blow them off the face of the mountain.

Lady glanced at her friend before starting to pick her way down the steep slope, going as fast as she dared. Her balance wasn’t the greatest with the wind blowing at her like this.

Stormfur looked over his shoulder before beginning to run back towards the cave, leaving Newton and Lady alone together on the side of the mountain.

Lady nodded, too. “We understand.”

“Please, if it starts snowing, just take cover. Trying to walk in a snowstorm will only get you lost and separated.” The tom pleaded with the pair of journeying cats, with Newton giving a serious nod in reply.

Lady peered down the slope then looked up at Stormfur. “Thank you.”

Eventually, Stormfur stopped them at the start of a steep downward slope. “This is where the Tribe’s territory ends.” The tom was clearly hesitant to leave the pair on their own, but didn’t seem to have much of a choice. If he got caught in the storm alone, even a mountain cat would struggle to survive it.

With the slowing of the pace, Lady managed to catch up with them and keep up, panting. Her ears stayed pinned back, the she-cat still struggling to make her way through the wind.

Before long, Newton was struggling as well. And as much as Stormfur hated to do so with the storm bearing down on them, he was forced to slow the pace so the trio could stay together.

Lady panted as she struggled to keep up, just barely keeping close to Newton whenever he glanced back. She had been a kittypet only a moon before and was only eleven moons old; the other cats should perhaps take that into account.

Stormfur lead them onwards for some time. Seemingly, the mountain cat’s territory stretched on for some time. All the while the furious wind whipped at their backs, with Newton casting a worried glare back every once in a while.
