We’re On An Adventure (Stormwind)

“Where in the sky was the moon?” Came the Tom’s next Question.

Lady frowned, thinking back on it. “It was nighttime. There was a full moon.”

Newton thought for a moment. “When was your dream? Like, was it during the day, or at night?”

Lady made a pained expression at the realization. “You’re right.”

(Yep!)

Newton thought for a moment. “Maybe you’re right. But we still don’t know where that lake is.”

“Was it small?” Lady asked dubiously. “Because those small lakes certainly aren’t large enough for an island.”

(Pools?)

“Are you sure?”  Newton flicked his ears.  “Some of the humans have small lakes they cover during the winter.  What if the lake I saw is like that!?”

Lady shifted. “Well, I’ve never heard of a lake being anywhere near the town,” she offered. “So yours must be their new home.”

Newton shook his head. “I don’t know.” The tom looked down at his paws before staring out at the land before them. “I think it was the clans, and they were obviously at different times. But which one was old and which was new, if either of them even were?” The gray tom sighed. “And it doesn’t help us figure out which way to go...”

Lady frowned a little. “What do they mean?”

Once they were free of the oppressive darkness of the mountain cave, Newton recounted what he saw, noting to Lady that he saw different cats at the top of his tree compared to her boulder, and that the land surrounding them had been different as well.

Lady hurried after him but was unable to help casting a glance back at the Moonstone, which was no longer glowing in the light of the dawn.

Newton nodded, deciding to save his own explanation for outside. He lead the way, trotting rather than walking now that he knew the way out.

Shivering slightly, Lady explained to Newton what she had seen. Once she was done, she swallowed and looked to the tunnel they entered the cave from. "I want to leave now."

“What did you even see?” Asked the tom, wondering if their dreams had been different.

Lady tried to slow down her breathing. "I think so," she breathed, finally starting to calm down.

Newton blinked over at Lady, his dream having been much more beautiful, and ending in a way that wasn’t entirely unfamiliar to him. “Did touching the stone make us see things?”

“That was terrifying,” Lady breathed, slowly uncurling and backing away from the Moonstone while giving it a wary look, fur bristling.

Newton blinked, realizing he was laying in his side. His head throbbed, presumably from cracking his head in the stone floor of the cave when he fell asleep suddenly. He was just starting to stand up, squinting and yawning widely, when Lady’s gasp startled him, The tom freezing in the middle of a stretch with comically wife her at the sudden sound in the silent cave.

A crack! sounded and Lady screamed as the boulder split beneath her, sending her tumbling into darkness. She woke up with a jolt, eyes wide, breathing heavily.

For Newton there was only silence and blackness for a few heartbeats. Then, The tom awoke suddenly, his eyes shooting open to find his nose still pressed firmly against the stone they’d discovered.

All of a sudden, Lady’s dream changed as the four great trees around her started to fall and the cats fled screaming, the sudden sounds jarring. She stared wide-eyed as they crashed to the ground.

Before long, Newton noticed something else coming over the horizon, and his heart sunk. It was the wave of ghostly cats again, the one that always appeared in his nightmares. They charged down the hill towards the lake, surrounding the cats on all sides. And try as he might to get the attention of the ones gathered on the island to save them, it was to no avail. The hostile cats even ran over the surface of the lake, not needing the bridge to cross, and the tom closed his eyes tightly as they bore down on him, Sure to begin ripping his pelt apart as they always did in his dreams-

Lady’s eyes widened when she saw the flame-colored tom’s eyes, which were the exact same shade of green as her own. That’s Firestar! That means this must be the Clans! She thought in awe. ...before the forest was destroyed, anyway.

Newton sat on the high branch right behind one of the four ghostly cats occupying the tree’s higher reaches. They must be important, Thought The tom, not immediately making the connection that he was seeing the clans.
