This Is Wrong But It Feels So Right (Stormwind)

The Tom was totally indecisive, none of the plans he was coming up with seemed to have much chance of actually working out. Snarling softly in frustration, he joined his mate, looking a little disheveled. He hadn’t even taken the time to groom his fur after waking up yet.

Swallowflight was watching their kits play, outside the nursery for once.

The next morning, Blackstar was pacing around in the nursery, as he seemingly had been for some time, trying to think of ways to get to Mallowstar without arousing lots of suspicion.

(I was thinking we could have Miststar go all delusional and senile and cause some problems. Plus Blackstar has to try and figure out how he can see Mallowstar again, and soon.)

With that, Blackstar pressed his body close to hers and rested his head on her shoulder, lying awake with his own thoughts for what felt like an eternity before finally managing to close his eyes and drift off to sleep.

She mumbled unintelligibly back at him as she drifted off.

“Whoops,” Blackstar mewed sheepishly, returning to grooming her head and the back of her neck, using soothing, rhythmic licks and purring quietly. “Goodnight, my love,” The tom purred when he sensed his mate drifting off.

She whined and swatted at him whenever he licked the insides of her ears. “Stop that. I’m trying to sleep.”

“I’m glad you think so,” The tom replied with a soft purr as he continued to groom the space between Swallowflight’s ears. Occasionally he would lick at the inside of one to tease the She-cat with the annoying sensation.

She licked his cheek. “You’re doing fine.”

“I hoped so.” Blackstar Replied. “I’ve been to six gatherings since taking leadership and I still feel like I have butterflies in my stomach every time I speak.”

She smiled at him. “Very well.”

Blackstar quickly began to groom the top of Swallowflight’s head. Between licks, the tom purred “I’m so glad you got to come tonight. How did I do?”

Swallowflight nuzzled his chest with a purr, resting her head on his paws.

Blackstar dipped his head to thank their sitter, and then joined his mate, deciding to curl up beside her and share warmth with Swallowflight and their kits.

Swallowflight curled around the kits that were sleeping exhaustedly, having stayed up to wait for them but not quite managing it.

Blackstar followed, dipping his head to the rest of his warriors to show that he had retired for the night before joining Swallowflight in the nursery.

Swallowflight purred at him softly, heading towards the nursery.

Blackstar sighed wistfully, turning his attention to Swallowflight by the time they returned to camp. He began to lick between her ears affectionately, a low purr rumbling through his body as he followed Swallowflight to retrieve their kits.

Swallowflight let out a sigh, wistfully imagining not having to share Blackstar.

Since Swallowflight wasn’t talking to him, Blackstar allows himself to ponder his own situation as well. He couldn’t go back to Meadowclan so soon- that would be suspicious. But if he didn’t hurry he had no chance at helping to name his kits! What was he supposed to do!?

Swallowflight was silent on the way back, her thoughts on how Mallowstar had finally birthed her mate’s kits.

Finally, Blackstar linked up with the rest of Lakeclan again, and began to lead them back home, his tail entwining with Swallowflight’s as he pulled up alongside his mate.
