This Is Wrong But It Feels So Right (Stormwind)

As an idea struck him, Blackpaw blew past Swallowpaw.  "Come on!"  His yowl followed behind him as he charged onto the slope leading up a small cliff towards the leader's den and the place where he would speak to the clan.  While two full sized warriors couldn't go up the path at once, he and Swallowpaw could fit together, if barely, and of course all four warriors followed the pair, albeit in single file.

Unfortunately, Mallowstar was preoccupied with two enemies of her own, unable to come to their rescue.

Blackpaw's fur rose on edge as all four warriors stared hungrily at the pair. These couldn't be the same cats who, moons earlier, were helping him learn to hunt, to track, to fight! How could loyalty to another cat make them willing to now kill him and Swallowpaw?

Pleadingly, Blackpaw looked to Mallowstar for help, though this was hardly his plan. He'd realized that he could predict the tendencies of each of the four cats before him from the days they spent skirmishing one another in the training hollow. Maybe, with some extra numbers, they could still win.

Swallowpaw stood defensively, fur bristling as she stared warily at the four larger cats, ears pinned back. They'd been winning! At first, anyway, but now they were cornered and she knew all four of the cats were out of her league. Maybe not Blackpaw's, but definitely hers.

The fake leader snarled angrily as he was tackled by the meddling apprentice. However, Blackpaw quickly joined her atop him, straddling the Tom's chest and going in for the kill. However, he was butted off by an alert loyalist warrior nearby, and all of a sudden the two apprentices found themselves backed against the thorn barrier by three angry warriors and the leader.

She gave a slight nod, tending her legs and then shooting forward, hooking her claws around the leader's hind legs and yanking them out from underneath him.

This was the right time. The false leader of his clan had his back turned. All it would take is one claw across the throat, and all this would be over. Tending his muscles, he tapped Swallowpaw with his tail, motioning to her to try and take the massive Tom's legs out from underneath him.

Swallowpaw waited anxiously for the older tom to lead the way, muscles tense.

Blackpaw pinned his ears flat against his head, beginning to creep into the camp from the hole in the thorn barrier, having to stop and duck into a den several times as loyalist warriors and the medicine cat dashed across the clearing to join the fray at the gate. Finally, their mark emerged from his den, descending the ramp from the leader's cave to the sandy clearing, his back turned to the pair of apprentices

It didn't take long before the yowls started, the sounds of battle reaching them.

While Blackpaw wanted to breathe heavily- the apprentice he was crushing on didn't help that by getting so close to him- he forced himself to take shallow, if shaky, breaths, waiting anxiously for Mallowstar to begin the diversionary attack through the main entrance that was so critical to their plot.

Swallowpaw wiggled in beside him, their fur brushing as they waited.

He pushed about halfway in, leaving her enough room to crawl inside along with him, and waited for the sounds of battle, which would be their signal to move in.

She nodded, eyes wide and fur bristling nervously.

As he carefully wound his way through overarching vines and brambles, Blackpaw found his heart racing. I have to fight harder than ever before... For my clan. For Mallowstar. For BOTH clans.. Finally, they reached the thorny barrier, where there was a single, small hole that apprentices had been squeezing through for generations. Indeed, it had been his escape route when he fled Lightningscar a few sunrises ago. Turning to the apprentice behind him, he mewed quietly "follow me through. Don't get your fur caught on anything, and wait until the main attack starts to go all the way through."

The she-cat hurried after Blackpaw.

Flicking his ears, Blackpaw picked the one he recognized as a friend of Swallowpaw's. "Come with me." He mewed, gesturing with his tail before padding down a slightly trodden, but still mostly overgrown path.

There were two apprentices there, blinking nervously. They were the oldest two apprentices.

Nodding to acknowledge her order, Blackpaw turned around, surveying their cluster of cats to see which if them would be small enough to go with him.

Mallowstar glanced briefly at him, crouched low as she stared at the camp. Her fur was streamed with mud to hide her better, the white and red usually standing out. Taking a moment, she nodded curtly. "Do it."

(Got it!)

Blackpaw's eyes darkened slightly as he arrived at the overlook, from which himself and Mallowstar were afforded a clear view of the interior of the enemy camp.  Was he really about to go on the offensive against his own clanmates?  

Shaking his head to clear the more negative thoughts from it, he turned to Mallowstar.  "Lightningscar only has a few devoted followers.  I can see from here that Stoneflight isn't in camp, so they're even weaker than usual."  Clearing his troat, he added "If possible, I'd like to take someone smaller through a secret hole in the barrier over there, by the apprentice's den."  He flicked his tail towards the place.  "The main attack can be through the entrance, but I want to cause as little damage as possible, and that can be done by me sneaking in through that hole with one other cat, and jumping Lightningscar from behind."

(All right. You start, please?)
