Everlasting Love (Stormwind)

Silverwish looked down at the herb pile along with Willowheart, eager to see what the young Medici e cat would decide to do next. All of the essentials were there, and Silverwish had her own idea of what should be done with Echowhisper now that she was at least in stable condition, but she still waited expectantly for her apprentice to say or do something.

"I don't know if we should do anything yet, until we know exactly what's happening." Sterlingflight mewed seriously. "Maybe we could send some cat to them and report back to us. It might calm some of the rumors down there."

(It was Eagle mwahaha)

Willowheart breathed a sigh of relief when the bleeding finally stopped, slumping slightly for a moment before straightening up and turning to the herbs they brought.

Rainstar frowned deeply, looking around the camp.

Brown fur... Silverwish tried to think for an instant about who that could be before shaking the thoughts out of her head. That could wait. "Thank you," she mewed softly, turning in time to see Honeypelt returning with more cobwebs. She gratefully took them and returned to Echowhisper's side, helping Willowheart to stop the bleeding until, finally, the cobwebs did not immediately turn blood red anymore.

Sterlingflight frowned. "Let's not jump to any conclusions then." The deputy turned to Rainstar, looking to see if she'd heard, and to see if she wanted to do anything to quell the unrest in the camp.

Mossflower shook her head. “We weren’t close enough to hear specifics, really. But at least one cat was injured badly enough they couldn’t be moved.”

Emberleaf let out a low growl, eyes narrowing. “It was one of the rogues,” she spat. “The patrol had split into pairs to go hunting, and Echowhisper and I were together. I got stuck in some brambles, and while I was trying to get out I heard Echowhisper fighting someone, and losing. By the time I got there, she was just lying there, I thought she was dead,” she choked out. “When the rogue saw me, he fled, and it was more important for me to make sure Echowhisper got treatment than to chase him. He had brown fur,” she added.

Silverwish offered Emberleaf a comforting purr as the herbs took effect. "Very good." Silverwish waited a few more heartbeats, not even looking over her shoulder to check on Willowheart. "Emberleaf, do you know what happened to your sister?" Any information about who or what could have caused a gruesome injury like this was important to not only the clan, but could also help her determine what sorts of treatments Echowhisper would need going forward. Although the medicine car couldn't see any way that such a deliberately-placed injury could be anything but another cat, she had to be as sure as possible.

Sterlingflight glanced down to Duststorm and Mossflower, who were lying together beneath the slope that lead to Rainstar's den. "Do you know what happened?" He questioned the pair.

Emberleaf took a couple moments before she could focus on Silverwish, but once she registered her words, she obediently ate the herbs, her trembling lessening once they started to take affect.

Willowheart carefully peeled away the soaked cobwebs and replaced them with fresh ones from the dwindling pile.

Silverwish pinned her ears when she glanced away from the wound for a moment, only to look back and see that their cobwebs were already stained deep red. "We're going to need more. Honeypelt!" The she-cat called. The warrior seemed to know exactly what the medicine cats needed and dashed off in search of more cobwebs.

Meanwhile, trusting her apprentice for a moment, Silverwish padded up to Emberleaf, noticing her shaking. She looks like she's in shock. Calmly, the silvery she-cat glanced around, stalked a little ways off to the side, and within a few heartbeats returned, having picked the leaves off of some nearby dandelions. While poppy seeds were the ideal remedy for shock, the medicine cat knew they would need all of the tiny black seeds they had with them for Echowhisper, and dandelion was a competent substitute.

"Eat these," the she-cat mewed calmly, flicking her tail towards the leaves and glancing at Embertail. "If you want to help your sister I need you to be focused."

Despite being on the verge of panicking, Willowheart still worked quickly and efficiently. All that training has to be good for something.

At first glance, Emberleaf would seem to be handling it well, but if one looked closer, they’d see her minute shaking, her still slightly widened eyes, and her intense focus on her injured sister.

"We'll worry about infection later," Silverwish growled quietly, grabbing cobwebs from her own bundle to sop up the deep neck wound. "For now stop the bleeding."

Honeypelt kept her distance, glancing sideways over at Emberleaf to see how the female was handling the distressing scene. Echowhisper was her littermate too, after all.

Willowheart skidded to a halt next to her injured sister, wide, horrified eyes focused on her neck wound. It was several moments before she could compose herself enough to pull out the cobwebs and start carefully placing them on her wounds so as to stop the bleeding.

Honeypelt paced anxiously around the small clearing she had pulled Echowhisper into with Emberleaf's help. The she-cat, normally bouncy and energetic, looked so wrong laying prone in the clearing, each breath causing her whole side to heave. The senior warrior walking around her couldn't let her guard down, however, with the chance that silvery she-cat's attacker was still in the area.

Wolfheart sighed with relief as he recognized that they were close, and within another few heartbeats he led the healing duo into the clearing.

Echowhisper was sprawled out on her side, her breaths gasping and shallow. Blood was running from her neck, some of it dried to her fur but fresh red liquid continued to trickle from her throat. Other scratches and missing chunks of fur were present as well, but it was clear that her neck injury presented the gravest threat to the female's life. Honeypelt quickly stepped out of the way as Silverwish basically slid the last few taillengths before coming to a stop at the bleeding she-cat's side.

Willowheart hurried after her former mentor and brother, carrying her own share of the herbs.

Rainstar frowned, following him out of the den.

Silverwish contributed a few herbs from her side of the den to the bundle Willowheart was building and tied up the leaf carrying everything before glancing back to Wolfheart. "Lead the way," the medicine cat mewed seriously. As the tom left the medicine den and struck out of the camp, she followed close behind.

Sterlingflight watched the trio of the warrior and both medicine cats leave the camp and frowned. "Somebody must be hurt," the tom mewed, turning his head to direct his voice back into Rainstar's den.

Willowheart turned to the herbs and quickly started searching through them, picking out the ones she thought she might need for treating her sister.

Rainstar looked at her deputy and mate and tilted her head, pricking her ears herself. She frowned when she realized cats were muttering worriedly.

"I don't know," the silvery-gray tom mewed softly, pinning his ears back. "She's in bad shape... we might have to go to her."

Wolfheart's panic had the rest of the cats in the camp murmuring worriedly, to the point where it got Sterlingflight to perk his ears up and prod Rainstar. "Something's wrong," he mewed, standing up to go check it out.

Willowheart looked horrified. “What happened!?”

"Echowhisper was attacked!" Panted the male. He had been on the midday hunting patrol with Honeypelt and her former apprentice, Ember___, and it could only be presumed that the injured she-cat was either being carried back to camp or in too terrible a shape to be moved.

Willowheart looked at her brother with wide eyes, fur fluffing in surprise. “Wolfheart! What’s wrong?”

Before the medicine cats had much more opportunity to speak to one another, Wolfheart burst into the den, wide-eyed and panting. The intelligent tom was normally stoic, so this was entirely unlike him. "Silverwish!" The tom gasped, glancing frantically between the two medicine cats as if expecting them to be able to read his mind to see what was wrong.

Willowheart frowned slightly, kneading the ground with her forepaws.

Silverwish frowned to herself. it can't be that simple, can it? She hadn't received such an omen from Starclan before, and was not totally confident that her current best answer was even remotely correct. But what else could it mean? Deep in thought, she didn't process Willowheart's confused blink at first.

Willowheart blinked at the name but correctly assumed it was one of the rogues, although wondered how Silverwish knew the names of one of the rogues.

"You're right," murmured Silverwish. "Whatever the threat is, it is supposed to come on his wings. Who could that be? Eagle?" The she-cat shuddered softly as she remembered the name of the tom from the time she spent in the rogue camp. She hated remembering that time, as naturally it lead to thinking about the moment she had killed Bear.

Mossflower scowled but let the matter drop with a huff.

“Cats have assumed like that before and it didn’t turn out so well for them,” Willowheart pointed out.

Duststorm sighed softly before leaning his head against Mossflower's shoulder. "You're right. Maybe we'll find a way to settle this without a fight." The tom barely believed in his own words, but he didn't want to talk about this anymore, especially considering his mate's increasing distaste for what he had to say.

"We can assume it has to do with the rogues, right?" Silverwish mewed. "I don't see any other thing that could be such a threat to the clan."
