Dim Light (Stormwind)

Echowshiper snickered softly, wanting to lash her tail in amusement but remembering her heat just before she would have spread the scent again.

Graycloud rolled her eyes.

“I don’t know for sure, but Loveclan doesn’t have any threats the way it did while the rouges were around. She might send them.” Echowshiper mewled contemplatively, before turning to Graycloud with a playful smile. “Plus, I’m her daughter. She’ll do anything for me.”

Graycloud frowned. "Would Rainstar be willing to spare enough warriors to help us, though?"

“We could ask my clan for warriors! A patrol of Duststorm and Sterlingflight and Emberleaf and Blossomsnow would leave those rogues running with their tails between their legs!” Echowshiper started to get herself worked up. “And then you could get back the cats they captured, and maybe one of them could get trained by Willowheart!”

Graycloud shrugged. "There's not much we can do about it right now," she sighed.

Echowshiper frowned. “We only have one medicine cat right now, too. Otherwise I’d already be on my way back to get her here.”

Graycloud nodded. "Yes, like Duststorm. Only, we don't have a medicine cat at the moment so I don't know what will happen if you get injured." She grimaced, thinking of Riverstar wasting away in the medicine cat den because no one could treat his injuries.

“Like Duststorm.” Echowshiper mewled, referencing the tom Graycloud has also met back in Loveclan. She was understanding of the consequences of underestimating the prey very well. While the animal that had taken Duststorm’s first eye had been a fox, the silvery she-cat could tell that the exact same thing could befall her if she tangled with one of these hated without being careful.

“You get a kick from one of those and it could even crack a rib,” Graycloud finished grimly. “I don’t remember their name, but a cat was also once blinded by a hare’s claws.”

Echowshiper nodded, the petite she-cat leaning in to get a closer look.

Graycloud let go of the hare once she was certain it was dead. “It’s much more difficult and sometimes dangerous to take these down on your own. See its hind legs?”

Echowhisper watched Graycloud take the hare down, but kept running until she had returned to the other warrior’s side, the cold air around them stinging in her lungs as she breathed deeply.

The hare startled and bolted, straight for Graycloud. Said warrior waited patiently until the rabbit was almost upon her, and then she pounced, sinking her fangs into its throat.

Echowshiper yowled, bursting out of the undergrowth clumsily on purpose before giving chase to the hare.

Graycloud was, indeed, ready and she flicked her tail (carefully) for Echowhisper to chase the hare towards her.

Echowshiper stopped on the other side of the rabbit, lifting her tail in a signal to see if Graycloud was ready.

Graycloud waited patiently for Echowhisper to get in position.

Echowshiper nodded, and set about creeping around the rabbit, taking care to stay downwind.

Graycloud showed through gestures that Echowhisper should chase it towards her.

Echowshiper nodded, keeping a careful eye on the hare. Now she needed guidance on what she could do to help catch it, if anything at all.

With its white fur, the Hare was difficult to spot among the snow, but Graycloud spotted it and pointed it out to Echowhisper.

Echowshiper crept along with Graycloud, forgetting the squirrel for now in case her help was needed with this snow hare.

Graycloud nodded, starting to follow its scent trail.

“A hare? So it’s fast?” Echowhisper mewled, committing the scent to memory as she scanned the brush for the creature.
