Willowheart scowled and flicked her tail a bit forcefully, turning away from the tom.

Oakfoot shrugged. “Something pulled me in here.” The tom wasn’t really sure what Willowheart was getting at.

“You’ve been avoiding me,” Willowheart said flatly. “You would most certainly not have come in here because you ‘just wanted to see me.’”

Oakfoot had been about to start walking out of the den, but turned around and looked questioningly at Willowheart over his shoulder when she Mewed his name.

Willowheart blinked at him, frowning at his nervous motions. “Oakfoot..”

The handsome tabby shook his head. “Just to see you,” He mewed back simply, shuffling on his paws a little bit.

Eventually the silence grew too awkward to handle and Willowheart broke it. “Was there something you needed?”

Oakfoot smiled slightly over at Willowheart, his longtime friend and potential mate, although that possibility seemed much more remote now.

Willowheart nodded. “I will always be your friend, Oakfoot,” she promised.

Oakfoot shuffled a little bit. “Whatever does happen, I want to still at least be your friend.” The tan tabby glanced up at her with wide, slightly hopeful eyes. “Is that something we can agree on?”

Willowheart kept silently staring at her paws.

Oakfoot sighed softly. I thought as much.

"I don't... I don't know, Oakfoot," Willowheart said hesitantly.

Oakfoot sighed softly, sitting beside Willowheart in silence. She hadn’t refused him outright, but based on her silence the tom felt it was coming.

Willowheart didn't meet his gaze, having ducked her head sometime while he wasn't looking and staring at her paws.

Oakfoot sighed softly as he glanced back up at her after a stretch of silence.

Willowheart shuffled her paws awkwardly.

Oakfoot nodded, his ears drooping a bit. “I like your realistic nature, and your intelligence. You’re fun to talk to.” The tom murmured. “And you’re pretty, too.”

Willowheart blinked in bewilderment. "What?" She asked, astonished.

Oakfoot pinned his ears back, glancing up at Willowheart. “I...” The tom glanced back down quickly. “I think I have a crush on you.” The tom mewled back simply, his ears pinned down.

Willowheart frowned at him. "Why are you asking these questions, Oakfoot?"

Oakfoot nodded. “Then I assume you wouldn’t care much if your mate was needy, either?”

Willowheart narrowed her eyes. "Well, then, too bad. Kits are adorable but I'm still not having sex."

Oakfoot nodded, confused by her stance but trying to keep an open mind.  “So...” The tom swallowed.  “If you were to get a mate... what if they decided they wanted kits?”

Willowheart frowned. "That's not what I said. It's not a choice, it's just how I am. Sex has never interested me, not once. To be honest, I don't even understand how you all always seem to want it."
