A Cat's Only Payment [Stormwind]

Lark let Lily lead the way back into the house, taking her back to her nest and lying in it with her so she could recover with him close by.

The young female sniffled and nodded, pressing clise to her father.

Lark groomed Lily soothingly for a few moments before suggesting “Let’s go back inside for now, love.”

"I don't wanna go in another tree" She whined, hiding her face in her father's fur.

“Yes,” Lark conceded, “but not every branch is big enough to support a cat’s weight. Now you know not to go on one that size in that tree again!” He continued to lick her softly to help calm her down.

"B-but I did what you said... I didn't go high and I stayed away from the end of the branch" She whimpered.

“It’s fine, love. We all make mistakes. That’s the whole reason I came out here with you.” Lark soothed his daughter in a soft voice, grooming behind her ears all the while.

"I-I thought it was okay.." She whimpered quietly, pressing herself as close to her father as she could.

Lark pressed his body against hers comfortingly, grooming The she-cat’s shoulder.

She clawed back up as he lifted her, clinging close to the trunk and whimpering, looking fearfully up toward her father.

Carefully, Lark walked sideways and backwards to get to the base of the branch, where the father finally hauled his daughter back up onto the branch.

Lily whined as she was carried by her father, the young female curling slightly and trembling as she was carried.

Lark finally reached his daughter and grabbed at her scruff quickly, taking it in his jaws.

The young she-cat whined loudly as she tried to pull herself up, breathing heavily as she was beginning to lose her grip, her claws sliding against the bark of the tree, Lily whining fearfully.

Lark’s eyes widened. “Hold on Lily, I’m coming!” The tom yowled, tearing his way up the tree until he got to Lily’s branch. He then moved more carefully, not wanting the branch to break again or shake so much under his weight that his daughter lost her grip.

Lily purred as she stayed on the branch, not noticing the creaking in the branch she was on, her ears pinned as the branch suddenly broke, she jumped quickly and sank her claws into another branch, hanging there like one of those "hang in there" posters with the cat, the young female whined as she tried pulling herself up, "Papa!" She mewled, her fur on end.

Lark sat down to watch, purring as he kept a close eye on his daughter.

"Okay papa" The young female purred, lashing her tail and pawing at a leaf as she stayed on the branch.

Lark beamed proudly up at her, staying on the ground and watching Lily climb. He did warn his daughter with a mewl of “Don’t go too close to the edge of the branches. They won’t support you anymore if you do!”

Lily bounded around as she explored, even climbing a tree and she giggled as she stood on a branch.

Lark kept a close eye on his daughter, trying to stay within a few heartbeats of her just in case something went wrong.

The young she-cat purred and darted out after her father, darting around excitedly.

Lark peeked through the small door to the outside first to make sure the coast was clear, then stepped out, turning around and waiting for his daughter on the other side.

She bounced ahead and looked about excitedly, her tail lashing about.

Lark nodded, waving his tail for her to follow as he started towards the small door to the outside.
