This Is Wrong But It Feels So Right (Stormwind)

Swallowpaw tried to ignore his glances, but couldn't help but noticing how handsome he was and a faint blush appeared as she stared down at the ground, munching on her prey.

"Thanks." Blackpaw mewed appreciatively, smiling warmly as she settled next to him to eat. As they dug into their prey, he wordlessly kept looking over at her, losing the battle to contain his lust for the cute, helpful, friendly apprentice.

Swallowpaw shook her head, dropping the thrush in front of him before setting herself down, curling her tail around her paws and dropping her mouse in front of her. Dipping her head, she started to eat it.

"Hey!" Blackpaw mewed, looking up and smiling in a friendly way as Swallowpaw returned to his private little clearing. Spotting the feathered prey, he mewed "Mind if I have some of that?" Noticing the way she was holding her tail, he secretly wondered what the view from behind was like for an instant, but tried blinking the thought away after a heartbeat.

Swallowpaw picked up a mouse and a thrush and trotted back over to Blackpaw, tail held high.

Blackpaw felt his instincts kicking in, shuddering as he imagined sharing a kiss with Swallowpaw. No! Compose yourself! He thought, trying to convince himself that his days of doing multiple she-cats were over.

She nodded and got up, padding over to the fresh-kill pile and searching through it for something for her and Blackpaw.

"Um, yeah." Blackpaw mewed, bringing himself back to Earth by shaking his head and locking his blue-and-yellow eyes on the other apprentice. "Prey sounds good."

Swallowpaw shrugged, looking up at the sky too. "Are you hungry?"

Blackpaw bit his tongue, on the edge of protesting the last point, but decided against it. "Really? Well, maybe she feels like a family would distract her." Looking up at the sky, which he noticed was not quite as easy to see in the Meadowclan camp as it was back home, he admired the multicolored sunset wordlessly.

Swallowpaw blinked at him curiously at his personal usage of her leader's name but didn't question him. "She's very kind. She cares about what we think and she always has time to play with the kits. She prefers not to put anyone in danger, especially the younger cats." She looked happy while she was talking about Mallowstar. "Sometimes I think she'd be a great mother, but she doesn't have a mate."

"So…" Blackpaw tried to rekindle the conversation. "How's Mallowstar? As a leader, that is." Blackpaw cursed himself silently for inferring that he knew her personally.

Swallowpaw ran out of stuff to say after a while and just sat there awkwardly, trying to think of something to say.

Though Swallowpaw wasn't quite as good a storyteller as he was, Blackpaw still listened carefully, only interjecting when trying to help her find the right words or asking a question. He found himself more and more interested in what she was saying, until he was hung on every word.

She gave an adorable pout at having to attempt to explain something, looking quite frustrated. "It's not gonna work," she warned, before going off to talk about how MeadowClan was normally, often stumbling or stopping to think for a while.

"No need to explain." Blackpaw replied, his multicolored eyes glowing as he looked up at her. "Just think, and then tell."

Swallowpaw tipped her head to the side. "I'm not a very good explainer," she admitted.

Eventually, Blackpaw found himself looking up at her more and more as he talked. Mewing, he finished his last story and asked "What's life in Meadowclan like usually?" He relinquished control of the conversation to her now.

Swallowpaw settled across from him, listening with ears perked and occasionally piping in with a question or remark.

Blackpaw settled down comfortably, and began to tell her some of the stories he'd learned growing up, asking between each if she'd ever heard it or if it was any different the way they told it in Meadowclan.

Swallowpaw ruffled her fur, pulling her head out and turning to face him.

"I'll come out, then." Blackpaw mewed simply, brushing pelts with Swallowpaw unintentionally as he squeezed past her out of the log.

Swallowpaw poked her head inside the log, looking around. "There's not enough room for both of us."

Blackpaw dipped his head in silent thanks for her help, finally completing his nest, which he'd made slightly wider than he really needed. "Care to chat for a little while?" He asked with an inviting mew, beckoning her within the log with a gesture of his head.

"Okay!" Swallowpaw said, snatching up the moss then wriggling close to him so she could pass it to him.
