Hello Feline Friends

"They wouldn't say why!" The tom hissed with intensity and clear anger bubbling to the surface alongside anxiety. "They gave me some thing about being a leader in spirit and not in name, and that our destined leader would show themselves in time…" the tom pinned his ears back as he glanced up at Violetwing again, feeling unworthy of her.

She gasped, her eyes widening. “What? Why!?”

"Violetwing..." Treewhisker murmured quietly. "I went to converse with Starclan last night, to receive my lives... they rejected me."

She stared at him silently, waiting for him to break and tell her why he was here, with her, when he should be making his way back from the Moonwhateveritiscalled.

Treewhisker pinned his ears back as he met Violetwing's eyes, holding her gaze to show he had nothing to hide. However, his claws sheathed and unsheathed nervously, the tom absently tearing at the nest a little bit as he tried to think of how to break the news to his mate.

Violetwing felt her mate awaken and looked at him expectantly.

Eventually, still not as long as he would have liked, Treewhisker's fitful sleep ended, the tom blinking tiredly a few times before the memory of what had happened the night before came back to him.

Violetwing sighed and rested her head on her paws, waiting for her mate and/or kits to wake up.

Treewhisker just kept sleeping, a frown on his face even though he was fast asleep.

Violetwing frowned when she saw her mate, realizing that he shouldn't be there.

Treewhisker had finally fallen asleep at some point not long ago, not that Violetwing would know how long he'd actually been sleeping for.

Early the next morning, Violetwing blinked awake when the kits started to stir, letting out a yawn.

Treewhisker tried to sleep, but simply couldn't. Too much on his mind. He didn't mind pressing close to Violetwing when he heard her soft purrs however, happy to help his lovely mate fall asleep even if he couldn't do so himself.

Violetwing was too tired to question him and only purred softly as she recognized his presence, drifting deeper into sleep.

Treewhisker laid down behind Violetwing wordlessly, simply going to sleep as he pressed against the she-cat.

Violetwing was curled around their kits, half-asleep but not quite.

Treewhisker returned after nightfall, not quite as promised. He took a moment to collect himself before padding into the nursery, his eyes searching for Violetwing.

Violetwing rose to her paws and padded over to the fresh-kill pile when her stomach rumbled.

Treewhisker padded out of the camp, a firm, determined look on his face as the male set out to converse with his ancestors.

She watched him leave before turning her attention back to her kits, curling her tail around her paws.

Treewhisker gave Violetwing a few licks behind the ears, standing up and beginning to trod over to the medicine den for his traveling herbs.

She sighed. "Stay safe."

"Either way, I have to leave tonight." The tom mewed sadly, leaning in to nuzzle his mate lovingly. "I'll be back by by the time the sun comes up, I promise."

Violetwing nodded, casting her glance around the camp.

"I'm not sure yet. Thankfully, I have a day. And maybe Starclan will offer me some sort of guidance while I receive my lives." The tom mewed optimistically.
