This Is Wrong But It Feels So Right (Stormwind)

Said Swallowflight look-a-like frowned at him as of to ask what are you doing here again?

“Hello,” The tom Mewed to the incoming patrol casually, ensuring he was respectfully on his side of the border as he dipped his head to the cats. The tom noticed the Swallowflight look alike once more and wondered curiously who that could be.

One of the cats on the patrol was the one from the last time Blackstar visited Mallowstar, the one that looked like Swallowflight.

Blackstar wondered if he should talk to the patrol, or simply let them on their way. Either way, he didn’t want to just duck back into the undergrowth of his own territory now. That would look suspicious.

Of course, just as Blackstar thought that a patrol came into view, made up of two warriors and an apprentice.

Blackstar was barely conscious of how much time passed, only once thinking it was strange a patrol hadn’t gone by yet.

Hours seemed to pass while Blackstar stood at the border, the sun steadily rising higher in the sky.

(*doesn’t have a clue what to do lol*)

Blackstar eventually had to stop walking, listening to the wispy voices that seemed to be calling for him across the border. Surely my kits can’t grow up without a real father. The tom wondered briefly about the ramifications of him walking into the Meadowclan camp and simply settling down next to Mallowstar, making a claim on the leader and their kits without even saying anything. What could her warriors do about it?

Occasionally the wind seemed to pull at Blackstar, whispering to him, tempting him. But of course, the wind wasn’t alive and so it was probably his imagination.

“I’m going to take a walk, survey the territory a little.” Blackstar Mewed to the warrior, though he didn’t look at the tom as he stood and padded out of the camp and into the territory. He immediately began to follow his clan’s border with Meadowclan, walking alongside and occasionally glancing wistfully out to the other clan’s land. His heart tried to pull him across, but he had to keep his paws firmly rooted in his own territory. It was hard.

Otternose smiled up at his leader, the young warrior not quite full-grown just yet.

“Huh,” Blackstar mused. He personally couldn’t imagine being patient to earn his warrior name, and he hadn’t even had one after all. He pondered the irony of that for a moment before finally opening his maw again. “Well, either way, I look forward to making her a full warrior.”

Otternose shook his head. “No, she’s not like that. She’s much like her name, actually.”

Blackstar smiled warmly at his warrior. “That’s great news. I’d bet she’s been snapping at the but ever since I gave you your warrior name.”

Otternose smiled at the mention of his sister. “She’s doing well. She says Honeysong thinks she’ll be ready to become a warrior soon.”

Blackstar glanced around the dimly-lit clearing before looking back to Otternose. “How’s your sister’s training progressing?”

Otternose took another bite of his meal.

“I know.” Blackstar Mewed gravely, glancing over the bramble barrier around the clearing and contemplatively looking out at his territory.

Otternose grimaced. "I'm not sure he'll stop... He seemed pretty unapologetic at the Gathering."

“Good.” The leader nodded. “As much as I detest Miststar’s current behavior, the last thing I want to do is have to go to war and put Lakeclan lives at risk.”

Otternose shook his head. “No. It’s been quiet since the Gathering.”

“I assume you don’t have anything to report from the dawn patrol?” The tom Mewed, figuring that he would have been woken up if any more prey had been stolen. He was just trying to make conversation with that topic for now, though.

Otternose startled slightly, blinking up at his leader. He quickly swallowed his mouthful. “Good morning, Blackstar.”

With nothing else to do, for now, Blackstar padded up to Otternose, smiling cordially at the young warrior. “Good morning, Otternose,” the leader Mewed softly, greatly pleased with his warrior’s unquestioning loyalty.
