This Is Wrong But It Feels So Right (Stormwind)

Swiftfoot perked her ears, taking care to look surprised, and approached her friend.

“I know that we have to take time to remember Miststar, but we must also be vigilant of more attacks on our territory by the scoundrels in Lakeclan and Meadowclan.” Robinsong Mewed. “Firstly, Swiftfoot, come here.”

The warriors that were in the camp at the moment all turned their attention to Robinsong, Swiftfoot and Cloudleaf included.

Robinsong sighed softly, turning towards her warriors. “In the time before we memorialize Miststar, I want to make a few announcements.” Mewed The She-cat, glancing around the clearing proudly. I control all of this now. It’s all mine.

Squirrelfur frowned at the deputy but sighed and nodded in acceptance, padding back into her den.

Robinsong blinked sadly, all part of her act of course. Wanting to distract the medicine cat from investigating too far into Mistatar’s death, The she-cat suggested “Perhaps you should begin preparing his body for the vigil.”

The medicine cat was worried because she hadn’t thought Miststar was sick enough to die and Swiftfoot was explaining that she’d just ‘found’ him like that.

Robinsong joined in the conversation, only listening to the pair at first.

Swiftfoot and the medicine cat were urgently talking to each other just outside the den.

Robinsong’s expression didn’t change from her frown; The she-cat glancing down at her paws. The tears in Cloudleaf’s eyes seemed to have done something to her, though. She found herself remembering being promoted by the tom to deputy, and the pride that had swelled up in her chest when she got to sit beside him...

Eventually the She-cat snapped out of it, glancing back up and walking towards the medicine den.

Cloudleaf glanced at the deputy, eyes wide and glistening with tears that she wasn’t letting fall. “Miststar’s dead,” she said, voice hoarse.

Robinsong hopped down out of Blackstar’s tree, a frown on her muzzle as she tried to play it as if she didn’t know what was going on. She walked up to Cloudleaf, one of the warriors, to ask.

Time slowly passed by and it was some hours before anything happened. ‘Anything’ happened in the middle of the afternoon, when a few shocked and horrified yowls were heard from down in the clearing.

Robinsong continued to furiously work at cleaning up after their mess, though she acknowledged it would be impossible to make everything that had blood dripped on it spotless again. The She-cat’s cheek stung with the clawmarks That Blackstar had left on it as she worked.

Blackstar watched Robinsong, glancing at his legs sadly. Though they’d likely recover fully given time thanks to his slight regeneration between lives, for now he couldn’t walk anywhere. The tom glanced at his tail with a frown. The part about two or three pawwidths from the tip was bent an entirely different direction, and that probably wouldn’t heal. The tom sighed and rolled over to bury his face into the log beneath.

Swiftfoot dipped her head before vanishing down the tree to go murder Miststar. :3

“I’ll finish up here.” Offered Robinsong. “Why don’t you go catch some fresh prey for our ailing leader? And perhaps pay a visit by the medicinal grove and pick up a certain red berry as well.”

Swiftfoot carefully kept a solemn expression on her face even as she wanted to light up with glee. “Indeed.”

Robinsong thought for a moment, and then offered Swiftfoot a sinister smirk. “You’re right. It would be too bad if he died in his sleep due to his illness.”

Swiftfoot glanced at Robinsong, thinking over her words very carefully. “Miststar’s old and very sick, isn’t he? It’d be a shame if he died but not much of a surprise,” she said carefully, quietly enough that no one but the other she-cat would hear.

Robinsong glanced to Swiftfoot when she stopped scrubbing suddenly. “What are you doing?” Murmured the deputy carefully, vaguely aware of Blackstar sputtering back to life behind them.

Swiftfoot glared at the bloodstains Like they’d personally offended her. It was times like this when she wished Robinsong was leader of the Clan. She paused, tilting her head to the side slightly. Now there was a thought. Miststar was on his ninth life and he was so very ill. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he just.. passed away.

It seemed that as much as they tried, they wouldn’t be able to remove all of the blood. The red-stained cobwebs just piled up, and not everything came out of the bark the way they would have wanted.

Swiftfoot carefully made her way farther down the tree with the cobwebs to clean up some more of the blood.

Robinsong nodded, starting to vigorously scrub up the blood with the cobwebs she had, padding some to Swiftfoot.

“They’ll heal some with his death but he won’t be able to walk for a while.” Swiftfoot started attempting to clean up some of the blood.
