Everlasting Love (Stormwind)

(It’s more of a blind spot where it’s super unclear off to the left a little bit. So basically the only things he can see in focus, is directly in front of him, anything to his side isn’t gonna show up well at all.)

Duststorm purred loudly, nuzzling his mate in return. After a heartbeat he turned to Willowheart, his one previously blinded eye still milky and useless but the other one still a vibrant green and useful. “Willowheart,” purred the tom, “you’re a miracle worker.”

"That's great!" Mossflower purred, nuzzling him happily.

(So he's nearsighted now?)

Duststorm blinked against the light that entered his eyes once more, squinting as the tom found himself nearly blinded by even the dimly lit medicine den after spending so long with his eyes behind a leaf. The tom made a surprised expression when he finally opened his eyes fully, and quickly turned to Mossflower. Everything past a few taillengths in front of him was incomprehensible, but... he could see!

“Willowheart! Mossflower!” The tom purred loudly, glancing to each of them in turn. “I can see you both!”

(Mmkay)

Willowheart padded forward and had to gently nudge Duststorm off of Mossflower's shoulder in order to reach his eyes. Carefully, she nipped at the strand that was holding the leaf to his face and it fell away.

(He’s going off of what Willowheart told him last time, so not since the battle, since the last time he asked her I guess. )

Duststorm sat down patiently. He didn’t speak, knowing Willowheart knew exactly why he was there. He leaned his head on Mossflower’s shoulder instead, grateful for her presence.

(Dude, it's been three quarters of a moon lol. Remember?)

Mossflower followed Duststorm even as the rest of the cats left the camp in a stream, leaving behind only the elders and those in the nursery.

Willowheart was also up and waiting for them.

The masses group of cats cheered happily. But for Duststorm, there was one last stop before he could really start celebrating.

The tom found himself in the medicine den. It had been more than a quarter moon since the battle, and he was ready to find out if he could still see. As most of the rest of the clan left the camp, he wondered if Mossflower would join him here or go with the rest of them.

Rainstar emerged from her den shortly after the sun rose over the horizon. She arched a kittybrow when she saw every other cat in the camp already awake and waiting for her, even the DimClan patrol. Not even bothering to leap up onto the (insert whatever it is here because I keep forgetting), she just stood there in front of them and opened her mouth to speak, "Well, what are you all waiting for?" She arched her other kittybrow at all of them. "Get out of here so we can start."

Sterlingflight awoke early, as did the rest of the clan. Every cat milled about in the clearing expectantly, waiting for the games to officially begin when Rainstar proclaimed it. It had been decided that the hunting would happen first, followed by fighting, and then the race, since that would end back in the clan camp anyways. It would all be over by sunhigh, allowing plenty of time for more revelry.

Rainstar watched him leave before returning to her meal.

(Sure)

Sterlingflight nodded. “I’ll speak to them; I’ll also remind them they’re treading on thin ice with us until we know their story is real.” The tom stood up, shaking his pelt out and leaving Rainstar’s side. That was more words than he’d spoken to just about anyone since just after Eagle’s death.

(Do we want to skip to the morning now?)

Rainstar huffed, briefly lifting her gaze to the sky as if to ask why me. "Very well."

“We invited Peach right into our camp without being sure wether she was lying or not. I’m just saying, I feel they deserve fair treatment. They seem to follow clan rules, after all. From what I hear they respected our borders.” The calico flicked his ears as he finished off his meal. “We do need to remain cautious, but it shouldn’t put a damper on our celebrations. Perhaps we could invite them to participate.”

Rainstar huffed. "That's different, you know that. We know Peach, we don't know Amber."

“We let Peach join us. How much can we really say that having a rogue makes them less credible without being hypocrites?” Sterlingflight pointed out. He hated the rogues as much as any cat, but Peach had proven to be a loyal addition to Loveclan. The deputy couldn’t just ignore that.

“I don’t know,” Rainstar sighed. “Having one of the rogues in their patrol downgraded their credibility but they seemed to be telling the truth.”

“Do you believe their story?” Sterlingflight Mewed to his mate, genuinely curious as to the answer.

Willowheart frowned down at her ruined marigold and carefully shifted the pebble and the feather off to the side, away from her herbs.

Rainstar grimaced, knowing the truth in that statement.

If there was a message to be divulged from the occasion, which it seemed there had to be, it was not going to come immediately. The stone and feather sat there silently, now completely inert after their fall from the heavens.

Sterlingflight glanced to his mate. “We’ll have to bring them with us, and have whoever’s not taking part in one of the competitions keep an eye on them.”

(*stares down my Spanish homework*)

Willowheart stopped barely a paws-width from the pebble and the feather, staring down at it.

Rainstar glanced at her mate, swallowing her bite of thrush. “I don’t know,” she sighed.

The den fell silent once more. Whatever strange activity had just transpired seemed to have stalled for now, the feather laying atop the pebble in the midst of what had once been a neat pile of marigold. The feather was lying perfectly balanced on the pebble, as if it had been placed there deliberately.

“What are we going to do about that patrol tomorrow?” Asked Sterlingflight Of his mate as he ate at her side.

Willowheart stilled, her blue eyes narrowing a little before they widened again in surprise. Carefully, she approached the shiny stone and its feather.

Buried a little into the pile of dried leaves was a beautiful, rounded, silver pebble, with a metallic shine that allowed Willowheart to see her own reflection almost as well as one could in a puddle. The sunlight from the newly created hole in the den roof glinted beautifully off of the rock and made a spot of light elsewhere in the den.

Just after that crashing impact, a feather drifted down through the same hole, landing gracefully on top of the stone despite swinging wildly from side to side on the way down.

Willowheart jumped in surprise and fright, whirling around to stare at the thing that crushed her marigold.

In the medicine den, All was normal after Oakfoot had finally left Willowheart alone. However, some time later there was a loud sound as something heavy came through the roof of the den and landed in the recently-sorted marigold pile.
