Never Enough Pride [Ash]

The humans shined a flashlight onto the pair and one spoke up, "Easy boy, you know what we're doing, you've been with us long enough, we just want to make sure they're alright" One keeper murmured, while being scolded by the second keeper for walking to them like they understood.

Kovu stood up, placing his body between the humans and his family, he released a warning snarl that would have been scary by anyone's view. He flicked his tail around his claws unshealthed for show, as promised he wouldn't attack.

She pressed close to him and had the cubs between them, she licked his face gently then jolted anx tensed when a couple humans slipped onto the den, both looking around.

Kovu nodded, "I know, if i comes to it I won't attack them" he finally aggrees, he licked under her chin comfortingly. He put a large paw on her side and pulled her closer to him.

She groomed the cubs to keep them calm and try to assist in calming herself, "You cant attack them... Remember that lioness that did a couple months ago? They shot her when her back was turned" She whispered, "I cant lose you, even if you annoy me sometimes" She burried her face into his mane.

Kovu groomed Sasha comfortingly, nibbling on her ears mostly he was attempting to relax the female. Keeping an eye on the entrance, prepared to ambush the humans.

The lioness curled and let out quiet whimpers, she hadn't liked this den in the first place, and she really didn't like that the den opening wasn't big enough for them to even defend.

Kovu kept the Cubs close to him, but noticing a camera, he moved the three Cubs to between Sasha and the wall of the fake birthing encloser, he then laid behind Sasha, wrapping himself around her and his Cubs protectively.

Sasha whimpered as she stayed curled around their cubs, her ears back and she watched a thing come down into the cave, the humans used it to check if the pair was in there with the cubs, when the humans saw both of them they tried to figure out how to get the pair out of the den so they could check the cubs.

Kovu looked up, knowing how the humans operated he ushered Sasha to the far corner, picking up the cub that shared their gene he placed him next to Sasha. Kovu laid down next to the rest of the Cubs, watching the door carefully his tail flicking.

She rubbed her head into his mane and she sighed, turning her head and tensing as she could hear humans in the enclosure, "They know..." She whimpered, shakily standing and starting to move the cubs into the deepest part of the fake cave, her ears back and she tried to hide the four boys.

Kovu nuzzled her head away from looking at his eye, "it's alright" he says, grooming her. "I understand"

She whimpered when she saw the real damage she did to his eye and she rubbed herself against him, "I didn't mean to... I was just... I should have listened to you" She sighed.

"I'm not willing to take any chances, with you or the kits" he said, watching her carefully allowing her to continue lïcking the wound that now offended his vision slightly. Her was a red slash over his right eye.

"They would have been fine for a couple minutes" She murmured while she resumed licking his wound, regretting her anger toward him.

Kovu growled softly allowing her to clean the wound but stood up abruptly and moved to the Cubs, he picked each up individually and brought them closer to Sasha to suckle. He was ever so careful when moving them, settling them down softly before laying beside Sasha again.

Sasha pulled away from the suckling and protesting cubs and she laid near the male, her ears back and she softly licked the wound she had created in her anger, her tail lightly twitching.

Kovu looked back, his eye dripping blood again as he watched the four Cubs with a smile. To him it didn't matter that only one was dark like him and Sasha, this was his first set of kits, and nothing mattered more then their saftey.

The lioness was letting out any pained sound she could for a while before the cubs had finally been born, four males, and only one of the males, the runt, was dark like his parents, their gene clearly wasn't going to be passed on easily.

Once Kiara was gone, Kovu laid down, turning his head away for privacy but his presence was still comforting.

The younger lioness cowered and scrambled out of the cave, Sasha panted and tried to move to get comfortable, but a contraction came too fast and she let out a growl of pain, her muscles visibly contracting as she gave her first push, normally lionesses liked doing this alone, but Sasha was in too much pain to care that the king was in the den with her.

Kovu looked at the the scene, separating the two females with his body that was much too big for the small room. He turned his head and snarled at Kiara, beckoning her to leave.

Sasha was breathing heavily and was in too much pain now from close contractions and Kiara attacking her, she laid there and whined loudly in pain, trying to curl up so her stomach was protected, but Kiara still managed to rake her claws along the pregnant queen's stomach a couple times before Kiara cowered and tried to act like Sasha had attacked her when Kovu was in the cave.

Kovu smelt Sasha before he heard the roar, he had no intention of being their due to her complete arrogance toward him helping her. But when he heard an aggressive roar he got to his feet and ran to the fake birthing cave. He snarled and charged at Kiara.
