Zombie Cat Apocalypse (Bacon)

"I won't when I know I've done wrong! How am I supposed to be good to you and be a good parent when this happens!" He clawed at himself, his ears pinned back and his tail curled under himself.

She swiped at his ears, claws unsheathed. "I said stop it!"

"It is my fault! I shouldn't have even brought that she-cat here in the first place! I thought you'd be happier with another she-cat around but look what's been happening since I did that!" He growled toward himself, shoving his face into the mattress.

"Stop it!" She cried. "Stop blaming yourself, Ryder! It's bad enough losing five kits in one day without having to watch the one I love beat himself up about it!"

"I'm the one that didn't try hard enough, it isn't your fault at all" He mewed, laying his head on his paw.

"No, it's not," she said quietly, pushing her muzzle into his fur. "It's mine. I should have calmed down. I knew what could happen if I didn't."

He suddenly changed, his ears drooped and his head lowered, very slowly laying down. "It's my fault...." He mewed quietly.

"Ryder...," Ariana whispered, lifting her head so he could see the tiny bodies. "They...they didn't make it. They were too young."

The toms nodded and left the room, minutes later Ryder came in and he hadn't been told anything, he jumped onto the bed, purring loudly and rubbing against her softly.

"I want- I want Ryder," she whispered, pushing her nose into her son's cold fur b

"Do you need anything?" The second tom asked softly, hoping she'd just want Ryder or maybe some food.

Drawing the four tiny bodies to her, she wept heartbrokenly, her tears falling onto their fur.

"They were too early... They were gone before they were even out..." One of the toms said quietly.

Staring at her four dead kits, she felt her world shattering. "No! No, please tell me this isn't true! Tell me this is just a nightmare!" She cried.

The toms looked to one another and they sighed, moving the four to her, they were hesitant to tell her anything.

Sniffing the kits, once she was reassured they were fine she realized she still only had two. "Where...?" Her voice trailed off, leaving the rest of it unspoken. Where are my kits? She knew she had given birth to four.

"Just give it to her, it may help" The other tom sighed, the tom kit was put at her stomach with the she-kit.

She tried to reach out for the kit she thought of as her son, ignoring the tom.

"You need to rest, the kit will be fine" He mewed softly, the tom kit was still mewling loudly.

She swatted the tom away, not letting him take away the kit.

The toms jumped up and one tried to pull the kit away, "Just rest" The tom mewed.

Ariana jerked awake when she felt the kit attach itself to her teats, looking around wildly.

The toms weren't sure if they should let the kits go to her at the moment, but the little she-kit had managed to crawl to Ariana's belly and start nursing.

She didn't react, other than a tiny twitch of her tail tip.

The two older kits squirmed and mewled in both distress and hunger.
