Private with Bacon

"You can't if they all storm in!" She tried jumping up, earning a distressed mewl from the nursing kit.

"I'll protect you, Maple. I promise." He said.

"W-what if they try to get us? There's no way out" She got a little panicked.

He stiffened, narrowing his eyes at the exit. "They'll regret it if they did."

She sighed and pressed close, "Maybe my clan did follow us..." She mumbled.

"I didn't know there were any either." He frowned.

"How are adders even in this area... I've been all through here and haven't seen any" She mewed.

He purred soothingly at her, but his eyes were sad.

She started to wake and she looked up at him sadly.

He rested his head on her back, grooming her fur.

Maple pressed herself close to him and she whimpered.

Coming back after a few minutes, he lay beside Maple.

The she-cat whimpered in her sleep, feeling the kits leave her laws, and the smallest kit moved to her belly.

He stayed awake, going to bury the two kits.

She eventually fell asleep, keeping the kit close to her.

He made soothing noises, resting his muzzle in between her ears and rubbing against her.

"T-they did this..." She cried, all the blame she had now shifting to her clan.

Sighing, Hornet wrapped his tail around the other five kits, who were crying for their mother, and continued grooming Maple's ears.

She pressed against him and she whimpered, grooming the little kit, she looked to the others but all she saw was the toms that had raped her, she whined and held the kit tightly to her.

"Shhh," he whispered, grooming her ears. "Calm down. You know it's not good for you to get yourself worked up."

She trembled heavily and continued crying, in two days she had already lost four kits, she squirmed and grabbed Hornet's kit, holding the little one close, breathing hard, she's cared for all her kits, but she cared for the smallest the most.

"It's not your fault," Hornet whisperes as he pressed against the she-cat, staring down at the brown kit and the ginger kit. "It's ours."

Maple looked to her kits and she cried, she pulled the two close and trembled as she groomed them, her ears back and tears staining her fur, she immediately started blaming herself.

Snarling furiously, Hornet killed the snake he was on and helped Maple kill the other. Crouching by the two kits, he nosed them, whimpering. Because they were so small, they had died almost instantly.

The first adder tried to strike before it was jumped on, it managed to bite one of the unamed kits, the second larger adder hissed and it too landed a strike on a kit, trying to drag it away, Maple cried and jumped on the larger adder.
