From The Shadows (Fire)

Orin stared at the beast,breath heaving. He was terrified of the aliens that had just tried to take him to do who knows what, but to have such a monster, which used to be his pet... He let out another terrified scream and dove for his gun, aiming it at the dragon. "Leave! Go! Shoo!" He shouted, not sure if the dragon would be able to communicate.

However something strange happened. Large claws swiped three away while a tail yanked away four more. Another set of claws reached out and clawed the rest away. Screams happened, however in the end there was a dragon. It was feather for wings and spikes. Snarling, its tail lashed as it looked at the people ran off or towards it. It slammed them away, however Orin could see one thing the same as Sam. It's eyes

Sam screamed and kicked at the enemies, punching wildly and defiantly. He might die, but he would die fighting. He barely noticed the incoming fog. He just wanted to kill everyone and everything around him.

Sam growled as more people started coming and swarming Orin in anger, some grabbing his arms while others fought for the gun before getting it. Sam ran at them, getting slapped back by a guard. She however snarled and fog all of a sudden rolled in.

Orin let out a screech of fury and instinctively dived for cover behind a large piece of broken cement. Pointing his gun out, he let shots fly, spraying bullets in their general direction and not really caring how many hit. He grinned maliciously when he saw a strange liquid spurt out of one of the humanoids arms, and when it glared his way, he flipped it off triumphantly.

Sam walked after him, tail flicking as she walked. Her eyes gleamed as some of the people that invaded the area walked over to them. Sam quickly growled, tail flicking once as they got closer and started talking in a foreign language before glaring at the human and cat. Samantha however puffed up, eyes gleaming in fury.

Sam loaded his gun, cocking it again and sighing. He just assumed he and his cat would go in and die, or perhaps she'd just run away. Either way, they would probably make no difference at all.Without looking back at Sam, he began striding forward, not bothering with cover. Strange lights flashed everywhere, and cars exploded as people tried to drive away. Strangely enough, even some other animals were attacking, but they just got killed as quickly as any human.

Sam had froze when the bullet came by. However when he motioned her, she walked over, meowing softly before jumping down. She however looked at him, meowing softly as her tail flicked. She knew this was it. Her true identity would be shown. She however be saving her human and others.

Sam let out a screech of alarm as she jumped away, and he pulled the trigger, making the lead bullet whiz by his cat's head and into the pane of glass on the passenger seat's side, making it shatter into infinite pieces. He aimed his gun back at her, about to kill her on sight, when he saw what was coming. They were a good distance away, whatever they were, but they obviously moved fast. "Damnit, Sam, what do I do now?" He saw her head down, and shook his head. She didn't look like a killer, and it probably didn't matter at this point. "This is it," he realized, and he got out of the car. He went back and opened the back door, motioning for his cat to come out. "Let's go. We're both dead, might as well do it together."

The feline glared at the human, as if saying 'Put the gun down! We have no time for this!'. She lashed her tail, ready to make him put the gun down by force. She however froze, hearing screaming and very unpleasant sounds of death happening. Forgetting the gun pointed at her, she jumped back into the backseat and peeked out the window. She just stopped. Her eyes were full of fear, tail puffed out. There were a few larger, quicker animals trying to fend them off, however dying quickly. Sam stepped down from the window, sitting in the seat as her head faced downward in sadness.

He whipped around in shock when his cat actually started trying to escape the car by hitting the window button. Paranoid thoughts began swarming through his head, because he knew no ordinary house-cat would be capable of that. Thinking quickly, he swerved to the side of the road and pulled out his pistol from his glovebox compartment, cocking it and aiming it straight it his cat. "You're one of them, aren't you?" he whispered, aiming the cocked gun straight at his cat, finger on the trigger. If things had ever gotten extreme before, it was now.

Sam seemed to be growling in fury now, hissing as she watched the back window. Thing's were getting worse and she needed to get out into the playing field. Snarling, she quickly dove into the front seat, trying to mess with the window button that made the window roll down. It moved some but not alot, frustrating the cat in many ways.

He dove into his car, flinging his cat painfully, but harmlessly, into the backseat. He screeched down the driveway and onto the road, slamming the gas pedal and quickly going 60 through the 25 zone. He glanced back at Sam, and saw her watching the things jumping out of the ships. He shifted his head to look at them too, and he began to realize it couldn't possibly be russians...or human. "That's impossible. Sam, what the hell is going on?"

Sam seemed even more shocked at being picked up, not seeing him run over. She flattened her ears before narrowing her eyes. The ship seemed to be having ropes flung off of it. The cat seemed to be getting more furious at each thing the ship did from turn slightly to let something drop out. She didn't struggle against Orin but planned to run and defend the town as soon as she got a chance. That's if she even got one.

Orin could immediately recognize something was wrong. He didn't know what, but it was bad. "It's the fucking russians!" he concluded, and whipped around. Seeing his cat staring at the lights, he stopped. It almost looked as if she was...analyzing the situation. He shook his head, and sprinted towards her and scooped her up. "We need to get out of this city," he screeched.

Sam had followed after him, tail flicking but she seeming to freeze as she saw the lights. Her mind raced as she went over what to do in situations like this. All that came into her mind was change. She however refused to so she stayed still, tail puffed out as she looked around to see other people walking out in confusion and then quickly becoming confused, shocked, angry, and many more emotions.

Orin frowned, slightly annoyed at the barking, but he had never heard the neighbor's dog bark with such...ferocity. Gingerly, forgetting about his cat, he set her down and walked out, walking towards the fence separating him and his neighbor. In the distance, he could see strange, flashing lights. "What the hell?" he murmured to himself.

Sam meowed calmly, seeming as if she didn't. She however had saw another cat get in it and had chased them out, so she kinda... sorta did. Flicking her tail, she purred softly in Orin's arms, she enjoying the warmth they held in them. She always enjoyed being held, always so nice and toasty when she was. Sam however perked her ears as she heard a dog start barking crazy like.

Orin frowned and gently lifted his cat, holding her with one hand on her chest and one on her belly so he could cuddle her to his chest. "You're a very strange girl, Sam. Sometimes I wish you could talk, just so I could know what's on your mind." He shook his head. "I also saw that someone got in my garden. That wasn't you, was it?" He questioned the cat as though it could communicate.

Sam's ears went up as the door opened, she rushing over with a loud and friendly meow, rubbing up against his leg. He was a really nice human, better than some who yelled or kicked at her. He was a little strange for a human in her mind but she was happy and wouldn't want another human in the world.

Orin was looking out the window, admiring the snow, when he saw his cat coming back, and he felt himself shake his head in exasperation. She seemed strangely curious and persistent at times, but she was a good cat, so he didn't complain. Smiling, he opened the door for her and knelt down to pet her as she walked in.

It was a surprisingly calm December day, it being a few days after Christmas. It was snowing, which was quite pretty with the ground. Well, it was good for some, others like Sam the cat was having a little bit of a hard time. She just wanted some of that stupid chicken that the butcher had plenty of, but no he didn't want to share. Humans were most times selfish. Well, besides the one that cared for her, Orin. He wasn't selfish. He was kind. The cat glanced back, tail twitching so slightly as she listened. Flicking an ear she took off once more, heading back to the house where Orin should be at.
