Mutations (Stormwind)

"We'll figure it out," replied the cheetah hybrid, glancing around for a solution. "I doubt the two of us will be able to lift that tree as-is... maybe we can find a smaller one that's fallen and use it as a lever?"

"Indeed." Alana grimaced slightly as she looked the cabin over. "This is not going to be pleasant, with just the two of us working," she sighed quietly, almost to herself.

Felix had arrived there moments ago. As Alana walked up to his side, the feline-human hybrid murmured to her "Nigel was not exaggerating when he said 'Damage." Indeed, a tree had toppled over onto the log cabin, which seemed like it was going to require some replacement logs for the walls and supports, not to mention the massive strength that would be required for getting the invading pine off of the roof.

Once done, Alana left and headed off in the direction of Gina and Hunter's cabin, enjoying being out of the crowded dining hall.

Felix also nodded, adding a "Happy to help." He started off in the direction of the cabin, having already taken care of his dishes.

Alana dipped her head in acknowledgment and agreement, walking off to dispose of her dirty dishes before anything else.

Nigel began to quickly explain. "There was some damage to Gina and Hunter's cabin last night. With your strength combined, you might be able to help with the repairs."

Alana paused and looked at Nigel, cocking her head to the side expectantly, dirty dishes still held in her hands.

"Hey, Alana, Felix!" The de facto leader of the commune stuck his head between the pair. Nigel has mutated only slightly, the main mutation of his being that his eye color betrayed his true emotions, able to change from angry red to anxious pink to saddened blue to envious green. Right now, they were a weary, neutral gray-blue. "I was hoping to get you two to help me out with something."

Felix looked over at Nigel, wondering what he could possibly be needed for on such short notice.

Alana finished her meal and gathered her dirty dishes, pulling her wings tightly against her back as she stood so that they would not hit anyone.

Felix sighed softly as he began to eat, growling with annoyance whenever something got caught in his thick, slick fur.

Alana glanced at Felix and inclined her head in acknowledgment of his presence before going back to her coffee, the only thing she had yet to finish.

Slowly, more and more mutants began to trickle into the dining hall, their color and interesting variety of mutations making it hard to pick any one mutant out from the crowd. That, however, was when Felix seated himself next to Alana, the spot on the bench next to her one of the few open places left to sit.

Alana tucked a piece of hair behind her ear as it fell down in front of her face, munching on her last piece of bacon, looking away from the cat-human hybrid to watch everyone else.

Felix immediately pulled his hoodie off once he entered the dining hall, leaving him topless as usual. Considering that was what felt natural to the animal-human hybrid mutant, nobody who had been there for any length of time batted an eye when he went around with no shirt on. He quickly moved down the cafeteria line, taking some of everything he was offered.

The first one there except for the cooks, Alana got herself a plate of food and settled herself in a corner table, back to the wall so she could watch the entire room. Quietly munching on her eggs, bacon, and toast, she watched Felix come in.

Felix glanced through the window, set high in the bathroom wall to allow for privacy and still let natural light into the space, as he showered. Finally, some time later, he emerged wearing his typical orange hoodie and denim jeans, not needing shoes thanks to the toughness of his mutated pads. He trod over towards the dining hall, which should be open by now.

Alana sighed and hopped down from the roof, landing lightly in a crouch. She straightened up and cast a quick glance around before starting to head towards the dining hall, which didn't open up until seven am. Her wings folded neatly against her back, the tips only just not brushing the ground.

Grumbling, Felix decided it was hopeless after half an hour of tossing and turning, which had woken up his poor bunkmate twice. Groaning, he stood up and slid into a pair of flip-flops at his bedside, walking through the long log cabin to go get ready for the day.

Alana perched on the roof of the Female Big House, her wings spread out just enough to allow her to keep her balance among the winds easily. Icy blue eyes watched the sun rise, the winged female the only one up and about at the moment. She always woke up just before dawn, unable to help it; it was like instinct. She couldn't stay awake much past dusk, either.

Felix awoke, bleary eyed, taking a moment to realize he was in his lower bunk in the Male Big House, not in the world he had just been dreaming about…

Checking his old watch, Felix realized it was only 6:30 AM, way too early for him to be up. Yawning, he tried to get back to sleep, laying back down and tossing and turning a bit.

(Let's go with the alpine forest idea)

(Works for me! So they live in the middle of nowhere somewhere. An alpine forest would make the most sense for Felix but a desert might be cool.)

And some of them could even use their powers to create a hidden area where only mutants could go, to keep them all safe and mlst especially the ones with obvious mutations.

(Well, our mutated characters can't interact with the general human population, so maybe they live together in communes in remote areas?)
