Cretatous Survival (Ash)

Trics sighed once the male left her alone and she softly nuzzled her little Patchy, she knew she wouldn't be able to defend him for long, and she had no idea how long he would live as injured as he was, but she had to try, for Scowler.

Phango had been about to comment further but his notrils flared, looking up to find a female running from the two other males, obviously she was the only female that had returned to season. Phango charged toward the female that had been mounted by one of the males already.

The female stayed over bher hatchling and she snorted, piviting in a circle when the male moved around her, keeping her horns between them, "None of your business" She snorted threateningly, "He's no threat, look at what happened to him, he'd never be able to challange you let along produce offspring that could challange you" She said.

The male huffed when he noticed the hatchling, "whose the father?" He asked with a grunt, circling the female and her baby, waiting for a opening to kill the hatchling without injuring the female,

Dispite being wounded and weak, Trics put her horns between herself Patchy and the male, she snorted and sent him glares, she knew she wouldn't be able to do much, but she had to keep Patchy safe.

Scowler continued into free territory, worrying greatly about trics and patchy. He laid down beneath a large tree, waiting to his wounds to heal.

The largest male, by the name of Phango walked over to trics, noticing her wounds and her distance between the rest of the herd. The male moved over to her, sniffing around her, like scowler he towered over the small female, but unlike scowler he didn't seem too willing to be friendly.

Trics kept herself curled around her hatchling, not letting the males get to him, she was so injured the males probably wouldn't have cared where she was anyway, she softly soothed the hatchling and she cleaned him up, sending glares toward the males.

scowler heard trics call but didn't turn around, not wanting to draw any more attention to his mate and unborn child. He was escorted by one of the males to the edge of the territory and recieved a brutal kick for his efforts. He roared in pain and ran quickly away from the territory. Bleeding heavily and limping from the kick.

One of the males had herded the females into the centre of the territory, picking off any babies that he spotted, killing off the babies so late in breeding season would either bring some females back in season or leave them in sync with the stystem.

Trics watched in horror as her mate was defeated, she trotted to the edge of the herd and she called to Scowler, whimpering loudly, Patchy followed her as best as he could, but he lost her within the herd and he was face to face with one of the new males, Patchy called in fear for his mother and Trics spun around, letting out a roar and she charged to her only hatchling, crying out when the male pierced the newborn with a horn and the female tried to fight against the male but she ended up quite badly injured and she had no choice but to back down, heavily bleeding Trics grabbed Patchy and she went to their nest as fast as her weak body would let her, Patchy was alive but barely, the wound in his frill would heal to form a large hole, but the tip of the male's horn had hit a spot on Patchy's back, leaving one of his legs paralized.

Scowler locked horns with the male and started pushing him back, and was currently on the verge of winning. He knocked the large male to the ground and stomped his chest, believing he'd won he roared loudly. Watching as the crippled male stood up chuckling. Scowler reared back when he noticed two more male trikes also similar in size to him, he could take on two trikes but not three. He roared, for the sake of his mate and child he would fight, charging at the three and knocking over two trikes to resume the battle with the he largest. The two trikes stood and attacked scowlers black legs. Causing him to fall back and roll in defeat. He stood back up and grunting, the four males were all bleeding, the large stranger had various puncture wounds and the two small males were almost fine. Scowler roared as he was chased from the territory - believing it to be the best solution to surrender knowing he could return when his strength was up and challenge the male. Hoping he wasn't going to be too late.

Trics whimpered as she watched, worried her mate would lose and she'd have to protect Patchy on her own, she kept the hatchling under her and she watched closely.

The strange male trotted forward obviously believing he could win given the weight and height similarities. Scowler dug his horns into the ground and the two began moving toward each other, the strange male had not yet challenged scowler. Scowler warned the male to turn away again but the male continued forward. Finally challenging scowler as he charged toward him, scowler grunted and ran towards him aswell. The two colliding loudly with a large bang - their frills smashing together and shaking from the impact.

She jolted up and whimpered, picking up the hatchling and trotting off to hide within the herd, keeping the hatchling close to her as she made sure she had a constant eye on her mate.

Scowler chuckled, opening his eyes as he felt her grooming him, giving a soft call to her. He abruptly stood up and looked around, spotting what he'd smelt a second before. Another male trike, equally as large as scowler. He reared back and slammed down in warning. A male trike could be equally as dangerous as any other dinosaur, given their willingness to kill newborns for a chance to sire their own offspring with females going into heat. "Take patchy and hide" he demanded, in a firm tone.

She watched him and gave a soft laugh, grooming him a little in attempts to help.

Scowler kept, huffing in and out in light snores, moving around a little to get more comfortable.

Trics chuckled and stayed awake while they slept, her tail softly flicking.

Scowler moved over to nuzzle against trics, resting his head beside her he fell asleep quickly having already been tired from the day's events.

Trics watched as Patchy curled up and fell asleep, yawning cutely.

Scowler laid down beside his mate, resting his head down and closing his eyes, yawning with a loud murmur.

She nuzzled him back and sighed softly, smiling to Patchy and nuzzling the little one.

Scowler looked over to trics and chuckled softly, nudging patchy towards her using his snout. He moved over to her, nuzzling her frill softly.

Trics didn't feel her mate or hatchling close and she jolted awake, thinking something happened, she saw them and let out a relaxed breath.

Scowler nuzzled patchy whenever he stumbled, encouraging him to get back up and continue on his way. Scowler chuckled and walked along side patchy, casting a few looks back at trics making sure she too was safe.
