Cretatous Survival (Ash)

Trics continued to graze and walk, Oceana taking her turn to chase the hatchlings around, Trics rubbed herself against Scowler, snorting softly and she butted against him softly.

Scowler annoyingly kept hovering around his two mates, checking on them frequently prepared to stop the entire herd if they gave any sign of being tired. He too, continued to watch the hatchlings, it seemed that they all had fallen into a sort of pecking order, which was normal - he remembered being the smallest of his mother's clutch. Unfortunately for his brothers and sisters at the time, who had picked on him relentlessly, he'd soon outgrown them all.

Trics rubbed against him and chuckled softly.

Scowler grinned and rubbed against her lovingly

"Of course" She chuckled and fussed over him softly.

Scowler chuckled and nuzzled her lovingly, “you love me”

Trics had been grazing and huffed softly as she watched her mate, "Nice one" She teased, her tail swishing lightly.

Scowler chuckled and smiled over at Trics innocently.

The young male trike was about to charge his father again until he roared, the young male retreating to his mother and hiding under Trics, watching his father closely.

Scowler chuckled at his son, unable to help himself he roared loudly, the sound caused a lot of the herd to turn but once they saw it was spike they all continued to move.

The hatchling gave a sound as he was toppled again after feeling like he had won against his father, he spun around and snorted, contemplating on charging toward him again.

Scowler chuckled at Trics, purposely halting to accept Spike’s ‘challenge’ he grinned and allowed his son to push him back several feet but as spike walked away scowler toppled him again for good measure.

Trics gave out a snort, chuckling as she trotted away from her mate, going on Oceana's other side, watching their mate and Spike.

Spike snorted and made an attempt to charge his father, trying to shove him back, using all his strength from his little body.

Scowler grinned at her words and nuzzled her, suddenly chuckling at his son, he purposely fell back behind Trics, hiding behind her.

"You'll never know" She teased and nuzzled him, chuckling as she watched him with their hatchlings.

Spike gave a sound as he was toppled, huffing as he stood and he turned to his father, trying to square up to him.

Scowler chuckled nudging her, “good things I presume” he smirked as he watched their son, toppling him playfully as he ran past after Enzo.

"She would have liked you, told her about you and Patchy often" She said softly, chuckling as she watched Spike whirl around to see who bit him, snorting the young trike seemed to think it was one of his siblings, the young trike chasing his siblings.

Scowler nodded gently, “maybe not...I’d like to have met her” he smiled and nuzzled her. Noticing spike walking close he leaned down and nipped his tail, looking about when he turned as if it hadn’t been him.

"She was old.. couldn't make the migration with her herd" She said softly and sighed, "She chased me off when they hatched with the rest of the herd, not sure where she is now... But something probably got her" She said softly.

Scowler nodded, frowning at the mention of another female, "where is she?" he asked, wishing he could thank her for protecting his mate when he hadn't.

Trics raised a brow at first before realizing what he was asking, "It was... Different... Not like I hadn't laid eggs before but.. I was scared.. It was hard at first.. but this old female helped me out.. I could barely stand so she would bring me food and even found this big old turtle shell to bring me water" She explained as they walked.

Scowler grinned at the sight of Trics' chasing after Spike, "how was it?" he asked, referring to how she'd given birth alone and presumably injured and taken care of them for some months without him. He was ashamed he'd never asked due to how angry he'd been.

Trics snorted as she had to chase down Spike as he ran ahead of them, the female herding the young male back, butting her frill against his rump to make him move.

Scowler happily stood between his two mates, he was beginning to notice that of the hatchlings, spike seemed to be the most troublesome, the idea both amused and worried him, still he enjoyed how much the hatchling seemed to take after him.

Trics fussed over Scowler softly after a bit, giving soft affectionate sounds, moving at a steady pace, the female had clearly healed quite a bit since her mast migration.
