Cretatous Survival (Ash)

Scowler was enjoying the attention from Oceana, he kept his head lowered to make it easier for her to reach.

Trics grazed as they walked, nuzzling and brushing against Scowler often, trotting off to chase hatchlings back if she needed to.

Oceana walked with her side pressed against Scowler's, grooming his grill softly.

Scowler was able to keep the herd on track from the back of the herd, in no seeming rush the male would often nuzzle his mate's or play with the older hatchlings as they walked.

Oceana and Trics walked with Scowled, both females keeping an eye on their hatchlings, the smaller hatchlings rubbing around their legs while the slightly older ones stuck close to Scowler.

Scowler nodded in response and gave a loud call to get the herd moving, for a moment alot of them looked confuse, grunting and stumbling around searching for Scowler who was herd the back of the herd with his family.

The females gave a nod to the male after they nuzzled him in return, they made sure the hatchlings stayed close, waiting for the herd to start moving.

Scowler nodded, and stood, nuzzling each of them individually, he checked to make sure all the hatchlings were present before returning his attention to them, "ready?"

Both females looked up as they heard their mate, they looked toward one another before nodding toward the male, "It might be best to get going... It isn't natural to be here this long" Trics murmured and sighed.

"We need to get moving again soon" he told his two mates, the male a little wary about how far they still had to travel, this was extremely out of routine, expecting the move back to the hatching grounds would cause a stir within the herd and he expected, he may get challenged for the position of leader - a position frankly he wasn't sure he needed to hold any more.

Trics and Oceana grazed close together, keeping an eye on the hatchlings, Trics constantly looking around incase something came for the herd.

Scowler turned to Trics huffing gently and nuzzling her affectionately before being to graze close by, seeming to herd a few hatchlings that were wondering a little far back towards Trics as he ate.

Trics nuzzled her mate, sticking close and she glanced about, she seemed worried about how quiet it was.

Scowler grunted affectionately at his mate, edging forward he cast his eyes over the herd, huffing skeptically at how quiet it was, considering the previous events.

Trics nuzzled her mate softly and she rubbed against him affectionately, closing her eyes softly.

Scowler nuzzled Trics in response, standing after a few moments, yawning and rubbing his horns into the ground.

Trics chuckled as she watched Spike trying to copy his father, the female nuzzling both males softly.

Scowler considered his son for a second then huffed, nuzzling spike affectionately - whatever his emotional state regarding Patchy, he didn't want Spike to think he didn't care for him or the others.

Trics watched with soft eyes as Spike tried to do the same to his father, trying to cheer him up.

Scowler smiled at his mate and child, although couldn't help a long sigh as he looked around his herd, missing Patchy.

Trics nuzzled the young male softly, smiling as Spike was clearly trying to make her feel better.

Scowler looked up curiously at his son and mate when Spike approached.

Trics stayed pressed close to her mate, looking up as little Spike came over and rubbed against her softly.

Scowler allowed the conversation to die, pleased they were at least able to talk about it.

She nuzzled close and let out a breath, resting her head against his.

Scowler frowned, "so do i" he admitted.
