Run Away Bravely (Stormwind)

After a while, Leafpool hesitantly spoke, “It wasn’t just my idea to give away my kits. Yellowfang and Feathertail were adamant that I not keep them.”

Crowfeather comforted Leafpool with his mere presence for some time, grooming the medics cat’s shoulder soothingly.

“Me too,” Leafpool said, taking a shuddering breath and burying her face in his dark pelt. Oh, my precious kits.

“I’m glad this time won’t be like that.”  Replied Crowfeather firmly, licking Leafpool’s muzzle once more as he sat beside her in the clearing.

Leafpool curled into his side. “You didn’t even know they were your kits, then,” she murmured sadly. “I didn’t have that luxury. I knew they were mine and I still had to give them up, to act as though as I was nothing more than their mother’s sister. It hurt so much.”

Once they reentered the Windclan camp, Crowfeather turned and purred quietly, rubbing his muzzle against Leafpool’s. “I can’t wait, Leafpool... to be a real father. To not have to watch some other tom raise my kits without even knowing it.”

Leafpool sighed but dropped the subject, following after her mate.

Crowfeather dipped his head. “I know,” Mewed The tom, rubbing his muzzle against Leafpool’s. “Come on,” The tom suggested with a huff, “let’s keep going.” The Black-furred male contiunedbtowarss Windclan’s old camp once again.

Leafpool’s frown deepened. “Crowfeather, he’s your son,” she pointed out, just barely managing to keep the bitterness she always felt when thinking of Crowfeather and Nightcloud out of her voice.

“It was hilarious!” Purred the tom. “All Of their faces were!” Sure, Breezepelt was his son, but Crowfeather hardly cared in that moment, happy to berate him along with every other cat that disapproved of him being with Leafpool.

Leafpool opened her eyes again and frowned at her mate. “Yes. Why?” She asked, eyeing his grin.

Crowfeather’s smile cracked into a wide grin. “Did you see the look on Breezepelt’s face when I came up to you back there!?”

Leafpool closed her amber eyes, purring softly. “So am I.” Silently, she swore to herself that she would not leave these kits. She would be the best mother she could be.

Crowfeather purred happily. “Leafpool... I’m so happy for us.” The tom padded up to her, rubbing his face against her chest and the top of his head against her chin.

Leafpool smiled fondly at his amusement. “They’ll be here in about a moon and a half. I won’t start showing for another half moon, though.”

Crowfeather broke the kiss only after a few heartbeats of sharing the passionate muzzlelock. When he pulled away, the Tom’s excitement was palpable. “You don’t look bigger yet. How long do you think it’ll be until they arrive?”

Leafpool inhaled sharply in surprise but she relaxed quickly, kissing Crowfeather back just as forcefully, just as heatedly.

Crowfeather was taken aback. He wasn’t sure how to express his reaction to the wonderful news besides to stare into Leafpool’s eyes and then kiss her forcefully.

Leafpool huffed at him but couldn’t help her small smile. “Really,” she confirmed. “I’m expecting kits again.”

Crowfeather stopped walking when Leafpool mewled the second part to him, his eyes widening. “Really?” He mewled, sure he already knew the answer but needing to confirm it to himself anyways.

“Me either,” Leafpool murmured, glancing at her mate. “I felt it this morning, by the way.”

Crowfeather again lead them towards Windclan’s Camp.

“I don’t care what they say, or think.” Mewed The tom firmly once they were in Windclan territory, his blue gaze seeming determined as he looked over at his mate.

Leafpool glanced at him in bemusement but rose to her paws and followed him.

The rest of the Clan watched in shock and disbelief as the two cats left together, clearly mates again.

Crowfeather returned their gazes unapologetically, leaning into his mate’s ear. “Let’s go,” murmured the tom, tugging their joined tails towards the log bridge.

Leafpool glanced to her mate and purposefully brushed against him affectionately before turning her head back to her Clanmates, narrowing her eyes at them challengingly.
