Hello Feline Friends

Violetwing scoffed quietly, looking away from her mate. She hadn’t had much faith in her Clanmates since they’d believed the rumors that she had willingly cheated on Treewhisker with Nightstar, and she’d lost all remnants of that faith when they enthusiastically welcomed the black tom as their leader.

“Then I’ll make them want it,” growled Treewhisker, turning away from his mate and snorting in frustration as he set his head down on his paws.

“I’m saying that you can’t do anything if the cats don’t want it!” Violetwing snapped, glaring up at her mate.

“I know that!” Treewhisker growled lowly, remembering the kits as his gaze briefly traveled over them. “I can’t just give up on them either, Violetwing. What would you have me do, exile the entire clan!?”

"He was forcing our only-moons-out-of-the-nursery daughter to sleep in his nest with him as a substitute for me and none of them cared; they all encouraged him!" Violetwing almost snarled, pale eyes flashing. She would have stood up but for the two kits at her belly, and only just remembered to lower her voice so as not to wake them.

Treewhisker felt his anger building, his forehead pulsing with pain. “Then I’ll make them see how wrong they are. They won’t like him anymore if he’s exposed for who he actually is.”

Violetwing smiles bitterly. “Yellowfoot was the only other warrior to even seem remotely unhappy with Nightstar taking over the Clan, and I’m not so certain he’s alive anymore.”

“That can’t be...” murmured Treewhisker, pinning his ears back and narrowing his eyes down at the ground. Surely he wasn’t the rightful leader Starclan called for? He was pure evil as far as the brown tom was concerned.

Violetwing huffed a bitter laugh. “Treewhisker, the Clan doesn’t want us, nor do they want a different leader. They are entirely content and happy with Nightstar as their leader.”

Treewhisker shook his head. “We have to give it our best shot. The clan can’t survive without a leader. And as much as I wish I could be... I’m not the one.”

Violetwing closed her eyes briefly. “How can we look when we don’t know where to?”

(Yep!)

Treewhisker bowed his head regretfully. “You’re right,” murmured the tom, closing his eyes and trying to think on who it could be.

(Oh lol. So it was that he just wasn't ready to be leader yet)

(It’s still Treewhisker the point is that fighting to get his clan and kits back shows that he has the virtues required of a clan leader.)

Violetwing frowned slightly, her ears flattening as she thought. "We have no clues whatsoever to go on," she murmured.

“I think we have to find the rightful leader that Starclan prophesied when they rejected me as leader.” Treewhisker mewled. “But who could it be?”

"I know," Violetwing murmured, her gaze downcast.

“We need to get our kits back, Violetwing,” mewled Treewhisker grimly, looking down at his paws.

Violetwing blinked up at her mate, curling her tail around the two kits by her belly.

Treewhisker sighed softly before rejoining Violetwing, giving his mate a quick nuzzle as he stood beside her.

Violetwing sighed quietly, resting her head on her paws.

Henry nodded, sitting down and yawning as he looked over his own yard. Treewhisker continued to brood on the fence.

“Thank you for telling me,” Violetwing decided on after a moment, despite the fact that Treewhisker would have doubtlessly told her himself, eventually. She still didn’t like Henry all that much, but he had helped them.

“That’s too bad.” Shrugged Henry. The tom glanced over towards Treewhisker quickly before looking back to Violetwing. “My owners’ shed is constantly full of mice, but I don’t really enjoy eating them, and for some reason my owners don’t like when I catch them as gifts.” The tom flicked his ears towards the building in question. “Treewhisker’s been eating well, though, when he does decide to eat.”

Violetwing frowned at Henry and shook her head. “No.”
