The Protection of SkyRim

She grasped J'Doto's hand and out loud uttered a small prayer, "Dead parents, please accept Lilah and accept her in your loving arms. She was a good person, and deserves the best afterlife." She looked at J'Doto, seeing if he wanted to add anything.

"Lilah" J'Doto muttered quietly, his ears pinned back and his tail not even moving.

"What was her name?" she asked J'Doto. Despite being surrounded by Khajiits, they were strangely isolated, with them all singing the hymn.

He twitched and glanced toward her, following her with very slight hesitation.

She let the group of Khajiits take over and walked over to J'Doto silently, surprising him by grabbing his wrist and pulling him over with everybody else.

Closer to the end of the song J'Doto joined in quietly, his gaze still away from them.

She saw his sadness and looked at him sympathetically, but knew it was best to continue, thinking it would help console him in the future. She sang louder and louder, hearing the other Khajiits begin to join in, and she willed J'Doto to join in.

J'Doto couldn't bring himself to watch, his ears pinned back and he sighed, it hurt him a lot, seeing one of the ones that raised him, dead.

Remembering a Dragonian custom for burying the dead, she closed the eyes of the Khajiit gently and kissed her forehead, and placed her paws on her chest in a folding position, making her look comfortable. She began singing in a soft hum, glancing at J'Doto to make sure she wasn't doing anything wrong.

He began walking his horse back and he watched her, his ears flicking.

She reached the Khajiits and stopped in between two of the ones who were crying, resting her hand on their shoulders comfortingly. She saw them look at her with both surprise and defensiveness, yet she knelt down beside the old Khajiit.

J'Doto heard her walking and he glanced back, stopping his horse.

She refused to continue, and got off her horse. Slowly, she began to make her way to the group of Khajiits.

J'Doto sighed and just kept going, unable to hide his emotions when he wanted to, his sadness poking through.

Ora stopped her horse immediately and stared the scene, eyes shocked. "Is that..." she asked, though she already knew.

"Dont know yet" He chuckled, passing a Khajiit caravan where they are in a circle and crying, one of their own laying dead between them, it was the old Khajiit J'Doto was with earlier.

"Fine, but seriously, where are we going?" she asked the older Khajiit with the enthusiasm of a child.

"Take it easy and dont kill your horse" He laughed and jumped onto his horse, trotting off.

She jumped onto her horse swiftly and made it bound in circles around J'Doto's horse. "C'mon, slow poke. Where are we going?"

"Yup" He said and put the pocket watch in a safe spot.

She shuttered as he took it, feeling as though she had given a part of herself to him. Finally she opened her eyes and said seriously, "Alright, you ready to go?"

He glanced toward her and he took the watch in his hand, giving a small nod.

She walked behind J'Doto and tapped his shoulder to get his attention. Once she did, she held out the pocketwatch that she had showed him earlier. "Please take it," she murmured, "It symbolizes everything I've ever had, given to you. It shows that I trust you."

J'Doto grabbed what he could and began strapping them to the horses.

Once back at her home, she began to pack things she thought were necessary, like the bows and arrows, clothes, cooking utensils, and other tools that might be needed. One last object, however, she pulled out of her pocked again and looked at it.
