Hazelpaw whipped around, eyes widening in shock, and bolted to go help her mentor.

From around the other side of the hill, Yellowfoot yowled out, a bit of a snarl also audible to the tons apprentice.

Hazelpaw quickly killed the thrush with a bite to its neck and buried it at the foot of one of the boulders, in a patch of softer earth.

Though a warrior, Yellowfoot was still young, and grew impatient a little too easily, The tom stuck his head inside the warren to check and see if someone was home, then carefully began to step inside.

Once she figured herself to be close enough, Hazelpaw tensed her muscles and leaped.

Yellowfoot barely held in a delighted purr as he found the warren, creeping up to the entrance carefully and lying in wait for a rabbit to emerge.

Spotting the plump bird, Hazelpaw carefully crept across the ground, thankful for her gray pelt that hid her among the rocks.

Yellowfoot scented a rabbit near the bottom of the hill and followed it, his eyes scanning underneath the bushes and rocky outcroppings on the hill in an attempt to find the warren.

Catching the scent of a thrush, Hazelpaw followed it.

Yellowfoot was soon on the trail of another piece of fresh kill after burying his first mouse. As he hunted, he thought to himself about how lucky he’d been with getting Hazelpaw as an apprentice, seeing how eager she was to learn and how talented she already was.

Hazelpaw dug a shallow hole for her squirrel and buried it quickly before scenting the air again.

Over on the other side of the hill, Yellowfoot managed to catch a mouse.

Stopping about a fox-length from the furry rodent, Hazelpaw rocked back on her hindquarters a little before pouncing, landing squarely on the squirrel.

Yellowfoot found himself hunting on the other side of the rocky hill from his apprentice, feeling fine in letting Hazelpaw roam slightly while also not having to worry about getting in her way.

Dropping into a crouch, the young apprentice wove her way through the undergrowth, amber-brown gaze focused unerringly on her prey.

Yellowfoot scented another bit of prey and padded after it carefully, glancing up every once in a while to ensure he wasn’t disrupting his apprentice’s hunt.

Hazelpaw scurried off after the scent of a squirrel, making sure to keep quiet.

By now, Yellowfoot trusted his apprentice enough to let her hunt on her own, and so he set off in his own direction. Hazelpaw was a very apt Hunter, impressing even the other warriors with how much promise she was showing so early into her apprenticeship. Yellowfoot couldn’t be more proud.

Hazelpaw also paused, opening her mouth to scent the air.

Yellowfoot followed her up to the base of the hill, then stopped, scenting the air for prey.

Hazelpaw cheerfully led the way to Rockhill, which was exactly as it sounded. A large, rocky hill.

Yellowfoot trotted behind his apprentice. He loves how happy he could make the young she-cat with something as simple as a trip into the territory to hunt for their clan.

Hazelpaw bounded to the exit and out of camp, her tail waving excitedly.

(Lol! No worries.)

Yellowfoot nodded, stepping aside for his apprentice. “Lead the way.”

Hazelpaw frowned, pondering the question. “Maybe by the Rockhill?”

(We shall excuse my terrible naming sense with the excuse that Warriors are dreadfully literal when it comes to naming things, anyway)
