“Hazelpaw,” Mewed The tom seriously. “If I ever Get the way Foxfury gets sometimes, you go straight to your father and tell him. Constant criticism is no way to raise an apprentice. Do you understand?” He cast his yellow eyes on her.

Hazelpaw followed after her mentor.

Yellowfoot padded out as well, quickly setting a course to take them to the opposite side of the territory from where Foxfury had lead Graypaw.

Hazelpaw immediately got to her paws and hurried to the camp exit.

“Let’s go out,” suggested the tom, blinking at his clearly displeased apprentice.

Hazelpaw didn’t respond, peeking up at him worriedly.

“Foxfury is going a little overboard.” Yellowfoot grunted to nobody in particular, his tail lashing side to side in annoyance as he glanced toward his apprentice.

Hazelpaw shuffles her paws awkwardly.

Foxfury growled quietly, turning away with a scoff. “Come on,” the senior deputy growled to Graypaw, who followed him into the forest with pinned ears and a drooping tail. Yellowfoot turned back towards Hazelpaw, frustration on his face.

Hazelpaw winced more.

“How dare you try to tell me how to train my apprentice!” Growled Foxfury, to which Yellowfoot Replied “Training And terrorizing Are not one in the same, Foxfury!”

Hazelpaw winced and ducked her head.

Foxfury hissed suddenly in the midst of his conversation with Yellowfoot, making Yellowfoot pin his ears back and Graypaw cower between them.

Hazelpaw pouted because she hadn't been asking for Yellowfoot to intercede on her brother's behalf. She'd been asking if he would take her out of the camp before she had to listen to Foxfury shouting at Graypaw again.

Yellowfoot looked unsure, but he stood up and padded towards the other warrior.

Hazelpaw looked at her mentor pleadingly.

Foxfury let out a low growl when he saw Graypaw still asleep, and this was all it took for the tom to scramble tiredly to his paws.

Hazelpaw winced and flattened her ears, not wanting to hear Foxfury shouting at her brother yet again.

Foxfury’s eyes narrowed when he didn’t see his apprentice awake already, The tom storming past Hazelpaw and Yellowfoot with a glare on his face on his way to the apprentice’s den.

Hazelpaw started to groom her pelt.

As more and more warriors emerged into the clearing, Foxfury assigned them all away. When the deputy was finished, the red-furred male looked around, presumably for Graypaw.

Hazelpaw pricked her ears and turned to look at Foxfury.

“That’s good,” Replied Yellowfoot casually. Foxfury was next outside, and he began to arrange patrols.

“I didn’t wake up during the night, so,” she shrugged.

The warrior stretched out and yawned quietly. “How did you sleep, Hazelpaw?”
