This Is Wrong But It Feels So Right (Stormwind)

"We're meeting in that clearing that has flowers all over the place in new-leaf," Swallowflight meowed. Seeing as it was close to the middle of leaf-fall, it would be a while before they saw any flowers.

Blackstar eventually forced himself to pull out of the loving cuddle with his mate, meeting her eyes with excitement and interest clear in his gaze. “Where are we meeting, then?”

Swallowflight relaxed at his positive response, rasping her tongue over his ear with a quiet purr. She'd used up nearly all of her courage in speaking to Otternose, and she was relieved that her mate seemed to be ecstatic about it.

Blackstar’s eyes widened in surprise as his mate told him exactly what she’d planned. He certainly hadn’t expected that from her. Noticing her concern, the tom quickly buried his face into the side of her neck, purring loudly. “Swallowflight, I love you so, so much...!”

Swallowflight twitched slightly at the lick to the inside of her ear, that area being ticklish on her. "Stop that," she admonished lightly, batting at his muzzle with a paw, before she responded to his implied question. "I remembered a while back that you said you were interested in mating with a tom, and I spoke to Otternose. He agreed to meet with us tonight." She blinked up at him anxiously, waiting for his response.

“You seem excited about something,” commented the tom with a deep, teasing mewl, licking at the inside of her ear once.

Swallowflight purred quietly, licking her mate's cheek. "Good evening," she murmured, meeting his mismatched gaze warmly.

Blackstar looked up, and the concern instantly melted from him as he was greeted with the sight of his lovely mate. “Good evening, my love,” purred the tom, standing out of the nest and padding up to her to wind his body around hers.

Shortly after Blackstar had started wondering where she was, Swallowflight slipped into the den, looking an odd mixture of anxious and self-satisfied.

Blackstar was laying in his nest in the leader’s den by the time sundown came around, waiting expectantly for his mate. He didn’t really expect her to be up to anything considering all the work they’d been doing lately, and she was supposed to have been done with patrols by now. So where was she?

(Sure. That night?)

(*Swallowflight meeps at all the attention suddenly on her, spluttering* But-! *she wilts* Oh, fine.)

(That would make it an even more special surprise though! Come on, Blackstar would love it, Swallowflight! )

(Swallowflight isn't really confident enough to do something like that, though)

Swallowflight cast one more loving glance at her mate before leaving him to join the border patrol that she was supposed to be on.

Blackstar nuzzled Swallowflight’s ear as she pulled away, sad to see her go but understanding she had little choice all at once. In fact, he had to go do some of the manual labor around the camp as well, including reinforcing the walls with the tree roots they’d dug up. That had been a genius idea on the part of Otternose’s sister. The roots were much stronger and could even stop a cat who was trying to crash through the camp walls.

(Yay! I think it’d be fun if Swallowflight set it up and surprises Blackstar with it, since he admitted he’s interested in trying to be with a tom as well. :3 )

Swallowflight enjoyed the presence of her mate for several more minutes before she had to pull away. With how small their Clan was and the war, every cat was having to work hard enough for one and a half warriors. She'd only gotten a brief break to eat a quick meal.

“And I love you too,” purred Blackstar in reply, his purrs increasing in volume as his mate leaned affectionately into him.

Swallowflight purred softly. “Love you,” she murmured, closing her eyes and relaxing into him.

Blackstar fell silent after that, pressing closer to his mate and winding The usable part of his tail around Swallowflight’s.

Swallowflight made an agreeing sound, falling silent again.

“I worry about convincing some of the senior warriors that the solution is to let them in.” Blackstar Replied. “But I think it’s the best way to continue the fight.”

Swallowflight made a thoughtful sound. “That would lessen the injuries and losses on our side. We’d have both the element of surprise and a home territory advantage.”

“We still have a numbers disadvantage, so we cannot win in an even fight on level ground.” Blackstar Mewed softly, keeping his head resting atop hers. “So, instead, we let their patrols encroach on our territory, which they won’t know like we do. And we ambush them as they enter, perhaps focusing on injuring a single warrior to the point where we can take them captive and use them to bargain for what we want.”

“Hmm?” Swallowflight made a questioning sound, remaining curled up against her mate.
