Fallen Holly Leaves (Storm)

Holly Leaves blushed bright red underneath her black fur, ducking her head with embarrassment. “She is?” She squeaked.

“Yes.” Fallen Leaves Replied, smiling over at his mate. “They’re thrilled that we’ve made things official.” Blushing a little under his pelt, The tom looked off to the side bashfully and with embarrassment as he added “my mother is already talking about our kits.”

Holly Leaves blinked at him, guessing he meant while she was talking to Jaypaw/Jay’s Wing. “You did?”

Changing the subject, Fallen Leaves Mewed “I talked to my parents earlier.”

Holly Leaves sighed but didn’t say anything, knowing that not everyone thought of the tunnels the same way she did; like a second home.

“I don’t blame him,” The tom replied with a shudder. He wasn’t sure he’d ever be able to venture near the tunnels again, much less inside them.

Holly Leaves shrugged. “He’s just feeling off after the tunnels; he’s been having strange dreams,” she lied with ease, though she felt incredibly guilty for doing so.

“How was he?” Mewed Fallen Leaves, concern etched on the dappled Tom’s face.

Holly Leaves nuzzled his neck with a soft purr, pressing against his side.

Jaypaw found himself accosted by a She-cat at the entrance, and got to talking with her.

Fallen Leaves greeted Holly Leaves with a soft purr and a few licks between the ears when she returned.

It only took them a few minutes to reach the camp once they turned back, and Holly Leaves slipped into it.

Jaypaw nodded, still trying to wrap his head around the concept of multiple Hollyleafs existing as he turned back towards the ancients’ camp along with his sister.

Holly Leaves nodded and glanced at him. “We should probably be getting back,” she sighed.

(I do!)

Jaypaw nodded thoughtfully when Hollyleaf was finished. “Hopefully I can work with that.”

(Once they get back to the camp, Jaypaw gets into a conversation with Half Moon, starts describing the mountains, Stone Song hears him, and one thing leads to another until they’re casting the stones and leaving for the mountains. Do you have a copy of Long Shadows? Because it would be much easier that way.)

Holly Leaves nodded, taking a moment to center herself before she launched into a telling off all that she knew about Jay’s Wing, which wasn’t much.

“It would be good to know what I need to do to act like him,” Replied Jaypaw, But he knew that Hollyleaf was right. Am I trapped here like her now? I don’t remember dying, but anything could have happened to me in my sleep!

“But none of his memories,” Holly Leaves muttered. “You do know you won’t be able to hold up this facade for long, right? I could help you by telling you what I know of Jay’s Wing, but he and I weren’t close. He just looks so much like you, and I...” she took a deep breath but didn’t continue speaking.

“You’re right,” Jaypaw mewed, not taking any offense to his sister’s slip-up. “But I have this compulsion to track and kill some prey, and I feel as if it’s simply routine. Perhaps I gained the instinct of this ‘Jay’s Wing.’”

Holly Leaves glanced at him in mild surprise. “You know how to hunt?” She asked them winced. “No, sorry, that sounded mean. But I know medicine cats don’t get taught how to hunt and I don’t remember you getting far enough along in your warrior training to be able to hunt consistently.”

“I can’t explain it, but I’m itching to hunt something right now.” Jaypaw mewed quickly in response, more of a subdued murmur than the angry mews of a few heartbeats ago.

Holly Leaves arched a kittybrow at him in response.

“Fine.” Jaypaw Replied cooly, taking a few steps as an awkward silence descended over the pair. Finally, the tom mewed “Are we done now?”

“Yes,” Holly Leaves snapped, marching on ahead. “Just not now.”

Jaylaw’s blue eyes focused on his sister’s face, his eyes narrowing crossly. “Will you tell him?”

Holly Leaves cast her gaze back towards the area in front of them as they walked. “No.”
