“Who are you?”  Hissed Spottedpelt, frustrated as the tom worked his way out of her grasp. That was not something a typical loner could do, especially not an injured one.

He struggled in her grip, struggling expertly enough that Spottedpelt was having a ridiculously hard time keeping a hold on him.

By the time he saw something promising Spottedpelt had caught up to him, and was able to take him down a bit more proficiently than the new apprentice.

The tom flung himself out of the way, eyes wide with terror. His fur fluffed out, he frantically searched for an escape route.

Puddlepaw looked up from his punishment, getting ticks out of the elder’s pelts, when he heard Spottedpelt yowling from outside the camp “Stop him!” The tom sprung into action despite the protest of the nearly-deaf elder he was treating. His tail flew out behind him as he launched himself at the stranger, claws sheathed.

The poor tom was utterly terrified and exhausted by the time he drew near to the camp, though he skidded to a horrified halt once he scented the group of cats, realizing he’d been herded.

Spottedpelt soon remembered that she had the advantage of knowing every pawstep of the territory, and began to drive the strange tom in the direction of the camp.

(It was South State, so it was the top girls in my state. I’m so proud of her Very Happy)

He pinned his ears back, lengthening his stride.

(That’s crazy! Well done by her!)

Spottedpelt sped after the tom instinctually. She knew that he had to know something important to them, based on his injury and his reluctance to talk.

(At her gymnastics meet earlier today, my nine year old sister got ninth place out of over 250 girls that competed this weekend. She’s awesome Smile)

The tom fled as fast as he could, terror fueling his desperate dash. He didn’t believe that the only thing the cats wanted was to help him, not helped by the fact that he was being chased.

Spottedpelt, the leanest of the three, let out a surprised mewl before bolting after the tom, kicking up snow in a white spray behind her as she tore after the stranger. Riverflight followed, though he knew he had little chance of catching up to either the loner or the warrior pursuing him.

Graycloud frowned at the log. “He’s in our territory, though.”

Almost immediately after the two warriors had moved away, the tom bolted from the log, attempting to flee.

Riverflight was taken aback, but stepped away from the log, glancing at Spottedpelt and Graycloud. “I don’t think he’s coming. We need to report this, however.”

He hissed at him, baring his fangs.

Riverflight has to fight to not let out an exasperated glare. “Come back with us,” he offered to the vulnerable young tom. “We can make sure your injury doesn’t get infected, and get you a little food. You don’t have to say a word to us until after that.”

More silence and a glare.

Riverflight pressed the tom for yet more information. “Did you see a tom named Rainstorm?”

Still no answer, but dark fur bristled.

“I’ll take that to mean yes, since we’ve never seen you before.” Riverflight replied. “How did you get hurt? We have a cat that can help you.”

He glared at Riverflight, remaining stubbornly silent.

(*decides to change his black fur to dark blue-gray*)

Riverflight dipped his head. “Don’t we know?” He glanced over to his other two warriors, remembering how they’d been driven out of their home. Looking back to the stranger, the deputy mewed “I’m Riverflight. Are you lost?”

He scowled at the other tom. “That’s what they all say,” he hissed, his voice surprisingly pleasant to hear despite the venom in it.

“We’re not here to hurt you, we want to know a few things though.” The deputy sat down, curling his tail over his paws to seem like less of a threat.

The tom didn’t speak, golden eyes narrowing at Riverflight.

Riverflight was startled by the young Tom’s hiss, but after jumping initially he calmed himself down. “Are you ok?” Was the Tom’s first question, remembering the blood trail they had followed here.
