He nodded silently to show his acknowledgement, thinking he scented cat as well, but unsure thanks to the stench of the other species.

"Stick close, eyes and ears on a swivel" She mewed as she continued along the bank.

"Naturally..." came Birchwing's grumble, followed by a soft string of curse words. He kept his ears pricked and mouth open, constantly scenting the air for the enemy.

The she-cat sniffed the ground once they got to the bank, "Dogs... Be careful" She whispered to her mate.

"Of course." Birchwing mewed, nodding and setting out down the slope into the Twolegplace.

"We need to be careful though" She mewed and moved toward the river, her tail lashing as she walked.

"The river still runs all the way through that place. Let's just stick close to the banks!" He suggested, able to follow the winding path from the beginning of the twolegplace to the end.

"We have no choice but to go through" She murmured, her tail flicking and she sniffed the air, trying to see if she could smell any dangers.

After an uneventful day of walking, Birchwing and Lavenderstar came across a massive twolegplace about halfway through their third day of the quest. Looking over at his mate, he worriedly mewed "I'm not sure we can go around."

She chuckled softly and curled up with him, letting herself doze off as well.

His final act while conscious was to join tails with his mate, purring softly until it faded away altogether.

Birchwing let her lean on his shoulder on the way back to their shelter, finally flopping down tiredly right alongside her and wasting no time before closing his eyes and falling asleep.

"I guess we should" She said softly and she stumbled lightly as he helped her stand, her back end starting to numb from the pleasure she had gone through.

Smiling, Birchwing allowed himself to purr softly as his mate groomed him. After some time, however, he stood up. "We should get back in the log and sleep for tomorrow." He suggested, tail flicking as he offered her help getting up.

Birchwing winked up at her when she cursed, pulling himself up to her level with his claws so that they could properly snuggle.

She breathed heavily and trembled, "Fuck" She whined softly.

Birchwing purred, removing his muzzle and licking up whatever leaked out of her core as she came.
