Everlasting Love (Stormwind)

Streamfire wasn’t happy about having to be on a patrol with her father, but she’d long since managed to bury her distaste for him deep enough that she could work with him when needed, even if she’d never like him.

Wolfheart padded behind the trio of older warriors, deep in thought as usual as Sterlingflight lead them through the trees.

(Yup!)

Streamfire left the camp after Sterlingflight for the sunhigh patrol, Brookwing padding by her side and slightly behind.

(Probably, so I guess they’re on the patrol together!)

(I like the confrontation with Sterlingflight one. Let’s do it! *looks at my cats* Streamfire would be the most likely to confront him.)

(Could be a fox attack! That, or some missed prey or bad calls on Sterlingflight’s part leads to one of your cats confronting him?)

(Okay!

Hmmm... *strokes imaginary beard* What sort of incident?)

(She’s a Bengal, so Tiger____ would be cool! Tigerflower or Tigerstripe maybe?

Hmm... there could be an incident on the midday patrol.)

(What do you want Peach’s warrior name to be when the time comes around?

Also...I don’t know what to do with my cats.)

Sterlingflight sighed softly, turning to watch Peach as he waited for the midday patrol to come around.

Peach was in a corner of the clearing, practicing her battle moves. The bengal she-cat has been extremely dedicated to learning everything since she’d last discussed becoming a warrior with Rainstar. She felt like a part of the clan now, and wanted to leave her kittypet name behind, so she practiced every day whenever she wasn’t on a patrol, both on her own and with Blossomsnow.

Rainstar gently touched her nose to his cheek and cast him one more worried glance before padding off to take care of her own duties.

Sterlingflight sighed softly, but he didn’t even apologize this time. This had been so frequent with the tom since the battle, but it had gotten even worse after the departure of the Dimclan cats.

"You zoned out again," she explained softly, looking up at with worried eyes.

It took a few tries, but after a moment the calico tom blinked and turned to face his mate, looking at her wordlessly.

Rainstar padded over to her mate and gently nudged him. "Sterlingflight," she murmured softly, trying to snap him out of it.

The dawn patrol was only on its way long after the sun had risen thanks to Sterlingflight, who then Simply spaced out, staring at the dirt beneath his paws.

Rainstar watched Sterlingflight with a worried expression. The tom had suddenly started to deteriorate shortly after the DimClan cats left, but he had taken a turn for the worse a few days ago, and he refused to let Willowheart look him over. She was at her wits' end.

Sterlingflight went to his usual place and started assigning warriors to patrols, though he forgot the names of a few cats and even managed to refer to Duststorm as Dustkit.

Rainstar glanced around the camp, where several cats were already up and about, the leader and deputy having had a late start to the day.

Sterlingflight watched after his mate for a moment before following her out.

Rainstar pushed herself up into a sitting position, quickly grooming her silvery-gray pelt of the scraps of moss before she rose up the rest of the way. She briefly brushed against her mate before padding out of the den.

Sterlingflight sighed, rubbing his head against his mate’s shoulder for just a few more heartbeats before resigning himself to what she said, standing up and shaking the moss out of his pelt.

Rainstar sighed heavily after a few more minutes. “We need to get up, Sterlingflight,” she murmured. “We have duties to perform.”

Sterlingflight pressed close to his mate and didn’t move for some time, not wanting to leave Rainstar’s side even though he knew he had duties to perform.

Rainstar smiled gently at her mate. “You’re welcome,” she said softly.
