Echowhisper nodded quickly, slightly sullen and of course burning up with both embarrassment and heat.

"I know you didn't mean to," Graycloud interrupted with a sigh. "Just...please, pay attention?"

Echowhisper was about to ask Graycloud something when she realized what was wrong, and stammered for a moment as she tried to apologize, the heat between her legs seeming to burn even more.

Graycloud relaxed slightly once Echowhisper had stopped spreading around her almost-stifling heat scent. Among she-cats, it was considered incredibly rude to do that in public spaces.

Echowhisper blinked over at her friend, lowering her tail without yet realizing why Graycloud had a problem with it. It wasn’t The she-cat’s first heat, but she had been trying to shut out the thoughts of that status by focusing on repairs.

Graycloud winced slightly when Echowhisper spread even more of her heat scent around. "Please stop that."

“Do you need help?” Echowhisper offered again, once more lifting her tail as she lashed it back and forth.

Graycloud coughed slightly. "Yes, I'm...fine."

Echowhisper glanced over at Graycloud questioningly. “Are you... ok?” She’d been standing and offering her shoulder to her partner for several seconds now, but something seemed to have left the other she-cat totally dumbstruck.

Graycloud blinked rapidly several times when she was practically slapped in the face with Echowhisper's heat scent, swallowing.

“Here,” mewled Echowhisper, The Loveclan cat selflessly offering Graycloud support so that she didn’t have to walk on the slightly injured paw. As minor as the injury was, The she-cat couldn’t resist wanting to help the closest thing she had to a friend in this strange new place. As she padded over she made the mistake of slightly lifting her tail, spreading her scent around in the immediate area.

After a few more licks, Graycloud eyed her paw to make sure that it had stopped bleeding before setting it down gingerly, wincing slightly.

Echowhisper blinked, again shuffling uncomfortably on her paws as she watched Graycloud lick at her pads, trying to ignore the uncomfortable heat between her hindlegs as it flared up again.

Graycloud nodded, rasping her tongue over her paw several times to stop the bleeding. They barely had any herbs left and were saving them for any serious injuries, so she couldn't grab some cobwebs to wrap around her paw. They hadn't had a chance to replenish those yet.

Echowhisper watched Graycloud tug at the thorn, and when it finally came out The she-cat made sure to sweep it into the barrier with her tail so that it wouldn’t present a danger for any other cat in the clearing. “That one was deep,” she mewled dryly, just as tired as her partner.

Graycloud worked alongside Echowhisper, seemingly having been assigned to be her partner for the time being. Hours passed and by the time they were able to take a break, her paws were aching and felt like they were about to fall off. She frowned down at a thorn that was stuck in one of them and tugged it out, wincing.

Puddlepaw got to work, though he fumed silently as he went along.

Echowhisper worked dutifully along with most of the rest of the healthy Dimclan cats on repairing their bramble wall. As she weaved and trimmed the barrier, however, she couldn’t help shifting around on her paws a little bit. Despite having been taken on the ride of her life a quarter moon ago thanks to Rainstorm, she was experiencing the beginnings of her heat, and unlike back in Loveclan, there wasn’t a readily available cat she could think of to help her with it.

Berrypaw glared after the arrogant tom, barely managing to keep from spitting. He's getting as bad as Rainstorm. Thinking he's a bigshot just because he got to be part of a patrol to another Clan. It's likely Riverstar only sent him because he thought it would be safer than staying here!

Puddlepaw snorted, turning his back to Berrypaw and padding off angrily towards the pile of brambles in the clearing that were being used to rebuild the walls, hating everyone and everything I that moment. At least this time he’d controlled himself enough to keep from assaulting his clanmate.

Berrypaw hissed angrily at the insult. “You don’t know my mom, so stop talking like her changing her routine just slightly means she’s out there somewhere slowly dying! And I’m saying that if she is in trouble, then we wouldn’t be able to do anything to help, because you’ve only had one Moon of training, I’ve had none, and we’re both tiny!”

“You said it yourself- she’s not doing her usual routine. For a deputy, that’s a bad sign.” Puddlepaw retorted quickly. “And don’t you think it would be better to at least check?” Growling, the tom turned to the clearing, and then to the medicine den where his father was likely slowly dying because nobody would go get Loveclan’s medicine cat. He snarled and added “Doesn’t anyone in this clan think something is better than nothing!?”

Berrypaw stared at Puddlepaw, in disbelief at his arrogance. “I can’t believe you think that we’d be able to help if she was in trouble or that she even is in trouble!

Puddlepaw shook his head. “Are you scared or something? Your mom might need us.”

“My mom’s the deputy,” Berrypaw said flatly. “We’re still practically kits.”

“I can handle it; I fought off a Fox on the journey.” Riverpaw replied quickly, a little boastfully. “Aren’t you worried about your mom? If she’s in trouble and we save her, we can be heroes.”
