Run Away Bravely (Stormwind)

Lionblaze trotted up to his sister with concern written all over his face. She did not have the benefit of his power of near invincibility in battle, after all, and he could smell the infected behind the patrol after the wind shifted to blow that foul stench across the lake and to the clan cats living on the island. The tom realized that his sister must have it even worse with her heightened senses, or must have to try hard to block it out. "Are you alright?" He finally asked, his weary eyes brightening slightly when he saw that she appeared unscathed.

(Today is the ninth birthday of one of my sisters )

Hollyleaf and her patrol ran as quickly and yet quietly as they could, heading back towards the island and hopefully leaving the infected behind. Not even because of how dangerous they were, all cats hated dealing with the infected, fearing they would see someone they used to know before they had been turned. Huffing slightly for breath, having run quite a distance, Hollyleaf finally spotted the island and chanced a quick glance behind her. No infected, thankfully. This allowed them to slow down.

Jayfeather left the den himself soon after Foxleap practically ran off, the blind tom carefully navigating his way through the still slightly unfamiliar land and the several cats in the clearing to reach the fresh-kill pile. Each cat usually only got one piece of prey a day, and sometimes not even that, and he had yet to eat that day. Picking out a scrawny vole, he retreated to an out of the way place to eat his meal in peace.

Heathertail didn’t notice the hurt in Lionblaze’s eyes, having already turned away, instead rising to her paws and heading to go speak to Ashfoot to see if there were any patrols she could join. She had already been on one that morning, but every cat needed to do as much as they could.

Firestar shook the last vestiges of sleep out of his pelt and his body, grooming down whatever part of his fiery pelt had been ruffled as he slept. Finally, he stepped out into the quarter of the island that had been claimed for Thunderclan. It was one of the sections that was responsible for guarding the log, so the tom surveyed his warriors with interest. It was impossible to ignore the sounds of Mistystar barking orders in her camp to his left, two shadowclan Warriors conversing to his right, and he could even hear Onestar all the way across the island. The lack of space and watery surroundings nearly drove the tom crazy sometimes, but it was all they had until they could garner up the strength to push back into their own territory.

Lionblaze let his eyes betray a bit of hurt as he glanced Heathertail's way before quickly breaking their eye contact, looking off to the side. In truth, his relationship with Cinderheart had already been strained before the dead cats started coming back to life, and now things were even worse. He had considered calling it off between the two of them entirely, but some small part of him made him decide against leaving the gray she-cat everytime he was about to open his mouth to break the news to her. He remembered the time that he and Heathertail had shared with a bit of longing on those occasions, and sometimes even wished for more. He figured he had burnt that bridge, though.

Hollyleaf, along with her patrol, thoroughly searched the sparse, wet forest, though in the end, despite searching for hours they had only found a measly mouse and dove. Eventually, they were forced to give up and Hollyleaf led the retreat back towards the island, only to curse when she started to hear the distinct sounds of the infected. “Fox-dung!” the young warrior swore, leaping forward along with her patrol to run. The trees were too far apart to take to them, though it would have been safer.

Jayfeather picked up a couple leaves of horsetail, trying not to wince as he further depleted their already tiny stock. Rising to his paws, he headed towards the area of the cave closer to the entrance, where Foxleap was waiting impatiently. Ignoring the younger tom’s grumblings abkit how he had been taking forever, the mottled tom chewed up the herbs and carefully applied the poultice to the scratches, allowing Foxleap to leave assoon as he was finished.

Finishing off the small rodent, Heathertail dipped her head to Whitetail as the she-Cat said goodbye and went to find Onestar. Letting out a sigh, she looked around the clearing, her expression instantly darkening when she spotted Lionblaze coming in. Clenching her jaw, she looked away. The she-cat hadn’t yet forgiven him for rejecting her in favor of his Clan when they were apprentices, and now being mates with someone else.

Firestar rolled over in his nest before he finally gave up trying to sleep any longer, letting out a soft sigh as he stood and stretched out his weary muscles. Convincing the cats of the clans to share nests with one another had been difficult, of course. Firestar himself had had the original idea of the leader's sleeping in shifts to promote the idea to the others, and it had been quickly adopted. Of course, that did mean that he had no nest between sunhigh and moonhigh, but it had helped a little with the issue of space on the island.

Lionblaze carefully balanced on the long log, carrying a bit of prey back with several of the young Thunderclan warriors. Prey was becoming more and more scarce as the undead cats wreaked havoc on the land. Whatever prey did survive was smart and fast, making the food problem among the living cats even worse.

Hollyleaf carefully and quietly made her way through RiverClan territory, the other two cats in her patrol trailing behind her. Ever since the start of the zombie apocalypse three moons ago, cats had had to quickly better their skills in stealth and fighting, as well as speed, lest they get killed. The slender black she-cat paused to listen, causing Toadfoot and Sorreltail to pause as well. Not hearing anything after a couple minutes of listening, she nodded and continued onward. This patrol was searching for food; there were two other hunting patrols out at the moment, there was one patrolling near the island to keep the infected away, and Mothwing was with a couple of warriors gathering herbs.

Jayfeather was the only one in the makeshift medicine cat den that was shared by all five of them at the moment. The small tom sorted through the pitiful amount of herbs they had, looking for some horsetail to put on Foxleap’s wounds. The tom had gotten a couple scratches from one of the infected and and was lucky he hadn’t been infected himself.

Heathertail quietly shared a mouse with her mother near the edge of the main clearing, smoky eyes sad as she watched the gloomy makeshift camp. Cats didn’t have the luxury of space and comfort so much anymore, and often had to share nests. Only the queens and sick cats got their own nests; there simply wasn’t enough. And with all four Clans being forced to be so close together, there was some obvious and understandable tension though they all tried to ignore it and work together as efficiently as possible. Someone was eventually going to snap, though.

Also, could I have a list of cats you want to not have been killed in the couple of moons of the zombie apocalypse so far? I’m trying to figure out the Clans/allegiances/everyone that will be alive and available to be used.

So the zombie apocalypse started, let’s say... a few days before the Gathering? Just before Ashfur asked to go and the Three plus Squirrelflight became alerted he was going to tell all the Clans. And it could be a moon or two since then.
