Crowfeather padded into the center of the old clearing, scenting the air just to see what he could find.

Leafpool hurried after him after a moment, a little surprised by his abrupt take-off so it took her a moment to catch up.

Crowfeather set his gaze on Leafpool’s after the two had stared down at the camp for a little while. “Come on,” He mewed a little impatiently, standing up again and trotting down into the old clearing.

As they finally approached the camp, a small divot in the seemingly endless short hills of the moor, Crowfeather looked down on his old Camp, it’s thorny barrier dilapidated and dens dark and empty.

Leafpool trailed after the tom, staying a couple steps behind him instead of walking alongside him, this time.

Crowfeather didn’t speak after that, starting on his way back down the hill a few heartbeats later, presumably heading towards his old home once again.

Leafpool winced slightly at the reminder, closing her eyes briefly to squash her urge to glance at the tom beside her. She swallowed. “Oh.”

“That,” Replied Crowfeather, “is further out on the moor, beyond Windclan territory.” The tom swallowed before adding “It’s where you and I stayed the night when we ran away.” He hadn’t brought her out here just to see that, but he’d thought it would be interesting to point it out when he noticed it.

Leafpool followed his gaze and tilted her head slightly. “What’s there?”

“Look,” Crowfeather Mewed suddenly, flicking his ears in the direction of a seemingly normal hill far in the distance.

Leafpool quietly padded alongside Crowfeather, looking around at their surroundings. She’d never been this deep into WindClan territory before.

Crowfeather hardly seemed to be bothered by the wind whipping up around him as they created another hill. Though it had been a while since Crowfeather had been to his old camp, his paws fell into place one after the other naturally, requiring little thought from the tom. He was glad that Leafpool could appreciate silence, and not have to fill almost every waking moment with noise and conversation the way her sister tended to.

Leafpool looked around curiously, fluffing up her pelt against the wind, the leaf-bare chill having yet to fade despite it nearing the middle of newleaf. It was also colder out on the mood with no defense against the wind.

Crowfeather seemed more at ease as they padded to the top of the first hill on the moor, stopping for a moment. The Tom sighed and even let himself relax a little as he found himself surrounded by the open spaces he loved and knew by heart. He even smiled a little, not looking to Leafpool as she drew alongside him.

Leafpool walked alongside Crowfeather, her pawsteps quiet as they made their way across the moor. The pale brown tabby she-cat glanced around as they walked, wondering what it would have been like to live in the WindClan camp.

Crowfeather followed only a few steps behind. The Tom glanced all around them, scanning the lakeshore for danger before setting his sights on the distant hills of the moor. Home...

After a moment the Black tom leapt down from the log and began to lead the way along the shore. He hadn’t said anything to Leafpool yet, but his mind was swirling with thought about her all the while.

(Mm, s’mores *offers you a s’more*)

Leafpool hopped up onto the log bridge, making her way across the lake. Once she reached the other side, she leaped down and moved out of the way for Crowfeather.

Thankfully for them, Berrynose let Crowfeather off with little more than a nonchalant sniffle. Crowfeather beckoned Leafpool forward and then waited for her at the bridge, stepping aside for the medicine cat to hop on the fallen tree trunk first.

Leafpool waited patiently until it looked like Crowfeather had finished speaking to Berrynose, at which point she padded forward to join the dark-furred tom, enjoying the lack of a suspicious look from Berrynose. He’d only been two moons old when she’d briefly run off with Crowfeather, too young to remember it.

“That’s good.” Crowfeather replied, his tail flicking as they approached the bridge. Knowing it was under guard, the black feline padded ahead of the medicine cat to go make an excuse for them to Berrynose, who was watching the fallen log warily. No infected cat had yet tried to cross the bridge, but recently more and more of them had been spotted on the shore nearby.

“Mothwing can continue teaching Flamepaw,” Leafpool said quietly, glancing back at her friend and apprentice. “I told her I’d be leaving at some point.”

“Is now a good time?” Crowfoot Asked with a murmur as Leafpool pushed through the curtain of lichen over the medicine den. She had seemed to be busy when he looked. And yet here she was.

Leafpool looked up when Crowfeather poked his head into the den, but so did Mothwing and Flamepaw, who were in the den with her. The two fully-fledged medicine cats were taking the time to teach the apprentice. The small tabby turned to the other two cats and meowed her excuses before heading over to Crowfeather.

Lionblaze didn’t feel like falling asleep, but there was no way he was leaving his mate any time soon, either. The Tom pressed close to her and simply watched her peaceful face as The she-cat slept.

Some time later, Crowfeather poked his head into the medicine den.
