Her Almost Romeo, His Almost Juliet [Ash]

Trey growled but helped her to the cubs, before demanding she lay down.

Shir coughed and whined as she began waking, her lungs hurting from inhaling so much smoke.

Trey leaned down, nudging her softly, laying his ear on her stomach.

Shir was unconscious as she was pulled out of the smokefilled den, her breathing ragged and fur dark with soot.

Trey jumped up and hit himself against the weak stop several time, it took several minutes, however, eventually the large male knocked the wall of the cave in. Wasting no time, the male leapt to his mate and pulled her away from the fire.

As the wall finally started to give way, Shir was becoming weaker and weaker, she tried to help her mate, but the smoke was hurting her lungs and making it hard to breathe, the female collapsing and coughing heavily.

With new found hope at his mates discovery, Trey leaped up and hit his claws against the weak spot.

Shir coughed and whimpered as she tried to find a weak spot, "Trey.... Here" She pushed on a weak spot just barely within her reach above her.

Trey clawed at the den, noticing shir standing on her hind legs, he copied her, hoping with his superior size he would be able to find a weakspot higher.

"And what about the cubs Trey? They need you" She breathed out, still coughing off and on, "You're stubbornness isnt good this time" She said, her tail flicking lightly, she winced as she stood, rising on her back paws and she pressed against the wall of dirt, trying to find weak spots.

"i'm not leaving you for a second" he growled stubbornly, "i want you out of there"

The female gave a weak smile to her mate, able to see him through the hole, "Trey... we're hurting ourselves by trying to get me out... We need to regroup and rest" She said quietly.

Trey cried out, the usually strong male seemed broken, "i can't do this without you" he whined.

"Trey you're exhausting yourself" Shir breathed out weakly, pressing close to the wall of dirt, wishing she could be with her mate and cubs, her ears pinned as she coughed heavily, whining softly, "Trey... Talk to me" She coughed out.

Trey clawed at the den, snarling his panic, ramming against the den over and over, trying to breach it.

Koba was covered in soot and dirt as he coughed heavily, the cub laying close to the ground and whimpering. Shir coughed heavily as she tried to dig herself out, whining as she was growing weaker, "Trey..." She breathed out heavily, pressing her snout through the hole to try and get some fresh air.

Trey dug at the cave a little more to achieve a bigger hole, which allowed him to grab Koba, running him to safety with the other cubs before returning a little paniced as he clawed at the cave again.

The saberess breathed out as she made a sma hole in the opening of the caved in wall, "Take him!" She hissed in pain as she worked to shove the frightened and squirming cub through the small hole.

Trey growled his frustration and charged into the wall of the den, roaring in pain but managing to breach their prison - a little. The large saber continued to claw and charge against the wall.

Shir continued to panic as she was still digging through the front of the den, her ears flicking as she heard her mate's calls, she let out loud calls to him, the den beginning to fill with smoke as she was digging, Shir stumbled back and howled in pain as the fire scorched across her face, stumbling back and she hissed in pain, holding Koba close to her.

Trey could smell the smoke before he could see the fire, his legs propelling him forward with the Doe he'd caught long forgotten. The sounds of panic coming from his mate and cubs drove him to run faster, reaching the den quickly. Trey rounded the den quickly, noticing the lone cubs first and running over to them, able to carry them further away from the flames (as the fire hadn't been that high yet). With the cubs safe, Trey realised Koba was missing, and ran to the back of the den. Trey didn't waste time trying to get in through the front of the cave, instead, he began digging at the back, calling to Shir trying to figure out where she was.

Back at the den, the storm she mentioned rolled in, and it eas a bad one, lightning struck the ground outside the den and a fire started, Shir bolted into the den to try and get the cubs out before the fire got too bad, but with the grass was dry enough that the fire spread quickly, Shir hissed and tried to protect the cubs as they were trapped in the den, the saberess looked to her cubs, her ears pinned and she turned, beginning to carry the cubs out of the cave, hissing in pain from the heat of the fire, she set the cubs where she thought was a safe spot, retreating back to the den for Koba, hissing as the den caved in at the entrance once she was inside, she tried digging herself and Koba out, whining out as she heard her other cubs calling to her in fear, the cubs on the outside finding a den to hide in, but flames surrounded the den they went to almost immediately.

Trey spent a few hours trotting towards a hunting ground, following the scent of a herd for a long while before he saw it. From there, he stalked a doe for a long while, waiting for a good opportunity to strike.

"Alright" She purred, following him out and sitting outside the den, "Be careful love, it looks like a storm is coming" She purred.

Trey nodded, "alright baby" he licked at her muzzle before he rubbed against her, "i'll be as quick as possible," he told her, before he headed toward a populated hunting ground, which unfortunately was quite a distance from the cave.
